Checks and Balances of Intercession

At the beginning of 2024, I gave a teaching word here on HKP about the Checks and Balances of Intercession.
As I have been in intercession as the year 2025 is almost over and the need for intercessions to stay on the wall as watchmen has never been greater, I felt to share this again for those who are being called as intercessors and may need to take a look at some very important principles of Intercession.
I feel sure you will agree with me that this is the 11th hour and the prime time to prepare for the end-time move The LORD is about to release.
I have taught on Intercession many times and have shared several times on HKP, but today I felt it so timely to review some principles of Intercessory Prayer — which is different than just Prayer.
I am including the song I use as I prepare my heart for intercession many times. It is a part of my preparing my heart.
Maybe you have been on this journey of Prayer for a long time or perhaps you are just beginning.
It is an awesome journey with our Marvelous Maker, Heavenly Father, Faithful Friend, and Wonderful Counselor, not to leave out our Intercessor.
As we interact with Him in Prayer, we enter into the reality that that He is our everything — and are truly awakened to a never ending adventure as we partner with Him in Prayer.
Let’s suppose that you are one of the ‘Mission Impossible’ agents being beckoned by the very heart of God. I would say at some point, you have said, “I want to REALLY know you LORD!”
This is the song that I love : The Invitation, sung by JoAnn McFatter, that asks: “Were you born to walk with HIM in the heavenlies? Were you born for the spirit? “
Then she proclaims, you’ve been invited as director to bring heaven on earth.
WOW! That really puts a new spin on the musing of the Psalmist when he said,
“What is man that you are mindful of him?” Psalm 8:4.
It is mind boggling to think you are co-laboring with the God of the Universe.
The heart to know and seek God is birthed in us by God himself. It certainly is not something that can be forced upon us, but it becomes a natural desire of our heart as we “taste and see that The LORD is good.” (Psalm 34:8).
Our Call and Ultimate Purpose Always is to Advance the Kingdom of God.
In the context of where we are today, I believe you will agree with what The LORD spoke to me this morning,
He said, “The need for Intercession has never been more URGENT than it is now — and will continue to be even more so as 2025 comes to an end.”
We are indeed in a time of refreshment and new beginnings.
He then instructed me to send forth more teaching on Intercession for the experienced to be refreshed and for the new intercessors to gain some direction.
I also felt it is a good time to point out some check points or thing we must always be aware of.
Just as Identity and knowing our Identity, who we are in Christ is important, as Intercessors who are interceding, we identify with the issue we are praying about.
So you might say, the most important thing we must know is ‘who we are’ and ‘Whose we are’ and when in prayer, ‘Who or what are we identifying in The Spirit‘ to bring to Truth, Deliverance or Salvation.
Identification:
Identification is the first law of intercession.
We do identify in the Spirit with the person or issue we are or have been praying for, but if we take that identification into our emotions and get caught up in our feelings, we become self-focused and lose the whole purpose of the prayer assignment.
Jesus carried our sin to the Cross. We are never to take the problem and carry it.
We are to apply the finished work of the Cross to bring Freedom, Deliverance, and total Victory each and every time.
The Call of Intercession is being ‘In the gap”, a place between where things are and the way they should be.
As we take God’s stand and stand in that place, we come against the accuser of the brethren and intercede to bring the change. We are indeed carrying out His instructions.
Intercessory Prayer is an extension of the ministry of Jesus through His body, the Church as we mediate between God and humanity for he purpose of reconciling the world to Him, or between Satan and man for the purpose of carrying out the victory of Calvary.
Checkpoint!
Take care to remember this! We must not allow our human reasoning to get in the way.
We must not jump into the flesh and try to accomplish what God ordained the spirit to do!
Stay in the spirit and follow The Holy Spirit.
According to Webster Dictionary: Intercede means to go or pass between; to act between parties to reconcile those who differ or contend; to mediate or make intercession.
Standing and Withstanding
When we are ‘Standing in the gap‘ we are also withstanding (holding out against something).
To withstand suggests force, pressure and resistance.
When we stand, we take a standing position and hold it.
When we withstand, we stand and hold out against something.
God has told us to Stand — and then Withstand — and He has made clear in His Word how to go about it.
There is no substitute for His battle strategy, so mark it down! “Our victory is in the powerful Blood of Jesus.”
“Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to WITHSTAND in the evil day and having done all, to STAND.. Stand therefore.” Ephesians 6:10-14.
“Now my beloved ones, I have saved these most important truths for last: be supernaturally infused with strength through your life-union with The LORD Jesus.” Ephesians 6:10,17-18.
“Stand victorious with the force of his explosive power flowing in and through you.” Ephesians 6:10 TPT.
Put on God’s complete set of Armor provided for us, so that you will be protected as you fight against the evil strategies of the accuser!
Your hand-to-hand combat is not with human beings, but with the highest principalities and authorities operating in rebellion under the heavenly realms.
For they are a powerful class of demon-gods and evil spirits that hold this dark world in bondage.
Because of this, you must wear all the armor that God provides so you’re protected as you confront the slanderer, for you are destined for all things and will rise victorious.
Put on Truth as a belt to strengthen you to stand in triumph.
Put on Holiness as the protective armor that covers your heart.
Stand on your feet alert, then you’ll always be ready to share the blessings of Peace.
In every battle, take Faith as your wrap-around shield, for it is able to extinguish the blazing arrows coming at you from the evil one! Embrace the power of salvation’s full deliverance, like a helmet to protect your thoughts from lies, and take the mighty razor-sharp Spirit-sword of the spoken Word of God.
Pray passionately in The Spirit, as you constantly intercede with every form of prayer at all times. Pray the Blessings of God upon all his believers.
Before you yield to The Spirit of Intercession, even if you are sensing a suffocation or loss of breath when your spirit feels pressed down by the fierce forces of darkness, Stop!
Ask The LORD to show you your heart to assure you are ascending with clean hands and a Pure heart, lest the enemy finds a place in you for he is the accuser of the brethren.
“Who shall ascend into the hill of The LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully” Psalm 24:3–4.
Checkpoint!
Take care not to lose hope or focus on the problem — instead of the answer!
Remember, Jesus is the Intercessor leading this prayer. When we take over and focus on the problem, it causes us to get in the flesh and get out of the gap.
When that happens, we lose ground that we have taken. If that happens, we must realize that decision was a result of a divided heart.
We must stay focused with a single eye, lest we lose our victory between the Glory and the Crisis.
“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. or this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:1-4 NKJV.
“Most of all, I’m writing to encourage you to pray with gratitude to God. Pray for all men with all forms of prayers and requests as you intercede with intense passion. And pray for every political leader and representative, so that we would be able to live tranquil, undisturbed lives, as we worship the awe-inspiring God with pure hearts. It is pleasing to our Savior-God to pray for them. He longs for everyone to embrace his life and return to the full knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:1-4.
Gift of Discernment
The Scriptures tell us that Jesus perceived the thoughts of men “in His Spirit” If we are to move in Discernment, our view of life must be purged o human thoughts and reasoning.
You must not judge. We are to remove the pointing of the finger.
We must first find the heart of Christ.
If you have followed me at all, you have heard me share this: He spoke very clearly to me: “Sandi, you Love them, I will Judge them.”
Spiritual discernment is the Grace of God to see into the unseen.
Jesus heart is here: John 12:47 — “I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.”
Checkpoint!
Keep your Love on!
Remember there is no place for an intercessor to allow offense in their heart
Offenses will come, but we are to be ready and prepared with the girdle of Truth.
We are dressed for complete Victory as we march forward in Calvary Love!
We must remain clothed in the love of God as we stand in the gap.
The peace of God must rule our hearts.
The beginning of seeing clearly is to remove the ‘log’ out of our own eyes. (Matthew 7:3-5) i.e. that which blocks our vision of His love only. His love never fails!
God’s servant must keep a single eye, “If the eye is single, the whole body is full of light,” (Matthew 6:22)
I have had a Vision recently of many who are having ‘birth pains,’ as they are yielding to bring to birth many new things in these last days.
That is why I felt so prompted to send this Checkpoint for Intercessors, especially those who are just learning to yield to Intercession.
May we travail to prevail unto birth as we bring forth The Father’s Heart!

Sandi, such a beautiful piece you wrote, which reminds me of my early years of Intercession, which began with many dreams and visions to about.
Yes, we gave to remember to stay in our lane of Love and Compassion – an act of restoring others to the heart of God, to be become Effective Intercessors for the Kingdom.
Thank you for elaborating on ‘feeling pressed down’, I shall remember Psalm. 24:3-4.
Sandi, it has stuck with me, “you love them, I will judge them.”
Blessings peace and love to you and yours dear friend Sandi.
Thanks so much for sbaring your call to intercession Jennfer, Truly everyone has a story!I
confess to you…sometimes I find myself having to stop myself from mistaking discernment for
judgment!! SHOW ME MY HEART. LORD! Spiritual discernment is the Grace of God to see into the unseen.and I say, Sandi..look at Jesus warning: Jesus heart is here: John 12:47 — “I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.”
Sending blessings right back at you! In His Love, Sandi
Thank You, Lord. Thank you, Sandi. A post I just put in X:
Our Lord wouldn’t let me go fully to sleep. In a “hypnagogic” dreamlet: “See Sandi’s latest…” with a view as if I were posting it.
Teaching on intercession: https://hiskingdomprophecy.com/checks-and-balances-of-intercession
Kairos timely. In today’s theme for InterProph private & INTERCEDE-X public. So, armor up and be aware. 1/2 ( https://x.com/ArlenWms/status/1971077988872524204 )
Spot on. And remember, everyone, lead with your sword, God’s Living Word, not your chin.
Thanks so much for sbaring on X, Arlen. We all need o stop and reflect when we pray. and or. intercede. Intercession is so URGENT in this hour for all nations, In His Love, Sandi
Sandi this reminds me of your book, which is a great book by the way. As a Intercessor you can’t let your mind and emotion get in the way like you said you might as well just stop, because Holy Spirit can’t even get through to you. I always, I always start by asking Holy Spirit to show me my heart is there anything I need to repent of because you can’t give the devil a inch he will take a mile. I learned the hard way many years ago you have to let go of the burden the LORD gives you and He will refresh you. I would not trade being an person who loves to pray for anything. Hugs Pamie
Pamie, so glad you got to read it and liked it. This is so of a add on or follow up, I love when you share your experiences with me. In His love. Sandi
