You Won’t Miss the Way
Our education systems train us to build our intellect; to use reason, intellect, logic and analysis, to make decisions. Those who are not well trained are instinctively led by their feelings, circumstances and at worst on trial and error basis. However, God’s way is totally different; whereas the world helps in building up your mind albeit in conformity to the worldly standards, God’s word teaches us to live from the dominion of our born again spirits. ‘I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Do not be like the horse or like the mule, Which have no understanding, Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, Else they will not come near you.’ Psalms 32:8-9. This is a promise that God gives; He will instruct us where to go and teach us on how to go and what to do as we go. This scripture has two illustrative pictures; don’t be like a horse – a very fast animal, or a mule – a very slow animal. Do not be too fast for God that you run ahead of His leading nor be too slow that you always lag behind divine direction. A horse and a mule are led by bit and bridle because of their speed or lack thereof. It is not God’s intention that you miss the way and suffer the consequences of missed direction, you can learn from the hurts of a wrong direction but it isn’t the best way to learn.
Now you may wonder how God leads us, Jesus has the answer. ‘But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.’ John 14:26, 16:13. It is the work of the Holy Spirit who resides in and with every born again believer to teach you where and how to go, and better still to guide you in all truth. With the Holy Spirit leading, you are sure not to miss the way and you will always know what to do. Whereas our education systems train us to be headstrong, we need to build up our spirit to be sensitive enough to the leading of the Spirit. Despite contradicting circumstances and ever changing feelings, we should build our lives on God’s word and allow the Holy Spirit to lead us on the right path. He is the Spirit of truth and God’s word is the truth; the word in you, renews your mind and makes it easier for you to be led by the Spirit of truth. Read it, meditate on it and act on it; you will be amazed at how easy it is to be led by the Holy Spirit. There are many ways through which we are led, but many are ignorant of them and others miss them because they are looking for the spectacular.
Your spirit was made alive and reunited with God at your second birth; when you accepted Jesus Christ Lord and Savior of your life. But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 1 Corinthians 6:17. This made it possible for the Spirit to dwell in you and to commune with your spirit. The most fundamental way through which He leads you is by affirming, bearing witness and also giving you a check in your spirit. Every other way in which you will be led, should be subject to this test; is the Spirit affirming to it in my spirit. The bible says; For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. Romans 8:14, 16. Our salvation is not just a belief but an inner conviction witnessed to by the Holy Spirit. Regardless of how we feel or the weather of the day, we know that we know that we are saved. In the same way the Spirit bears witness in our spirits that we are on the right path, doing the right things in the right way. This is done predominantly through peace (Colossians 3:15), whose absence is a check that either wait, don’t move there or an outright no. That inner peace and joy are spiritual signals in your spirit alerting you to move on. All this is built on a strong fellowship with the Spirit and a solid foundation of God’s word. I pray for you not to miss your way, a step and any divine opportunity. ‘Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.’ Isaiah 30:21
These are series that I will write on throughout this month of March. This is your month of ‘Much’ miracles and with this changing worldly systems, we need to walk in sync with God’s leading to experience His best. Look out for more articles under this headline article; you will not miss the way.
