Words of Eternal Life in Messiah Jesus
Messiah Jesus spoke Words of Spirit and Words of eternal Life that the eyes of our understanding must see more clearly.
I am writing this because The LORD’s Supper is seldom celebrated as a supper. This has led to erosion of our one another relationships before The LORD.
The supper is meant to involve one another conversation around a table, speaking Words of Eternal Life and proclaiming The LORD’s death until He comes. (1 Corinthians 11:26)
God established the Feast of Passover to avert the plague of death for His people Israel around 1446 BC.
“This day shall be a memorial for you. You shall keep it as a feast to The LORD. You shall keep it as a feast throughout your generations by an ordinance forever.” Exodus 12:14.
Messiah Jesus ate the Passover with His apostles on the night before He laid down His life for us and changed it into The LORD’s Supper as a prophetic sign of the new covenant in His blood. He spoke words of eternal life.
When we eat The LORD’s Supper, we remember and proclaim The LORD’s death until He comes.
“For I received from The LORD what I also passed on to you: The LORD Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said,
“This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim The LORD’s death until He comes.” 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 (Matthew 26:20–30; Mark 14:17–26; Luke 22:14–23; 1 Corinthians 11:17-22)
I had a conversation with a pastor about how we have shortened The LORD’s Supper by eliminating table fellowship and conversation with one another and substituting a bite of gluten free or unleavened bread and a sip of wine or grape juice for supper.
That’s a fast food supper. He defended that practice!
Messiah Jesus established The LORD’s Supper as a meal to be eaten in remembrance of him by His church/ ecclesia/ ekklesian.
With that in mind, let’s consider the Words of eternal Life Messiah Jesus spoke.
After feeding the 5,000, Jesus, realized that the crowd was about to make Him king by force. So, He withdrew to pray.
That night, His disciples went down to the sea, got into a boat, and started across the sea to Capernaum.
Jesus walked on the water join his disciples. The next day the crowd followed Him to Capernaum. (John 6:15-24)
“When they found Him on the other side of the sea, they asked Him, “Rabbi, when did You get here?”
Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, it is not because you saw these signs that you are looking for Me, but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that perishes, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on Him God the Father has placed His seal of approval.”
Then they inquired, “What must we do to perform the works of God?”
Jesus replied, “The work of God is this: to believe in the One He has sent.”
So they asked Him, “What sign then will You perform, so that we may see it and believe You? What will You do? Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”
Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
“Sir,” they said, “give us this bread at all times.”
Jesus answered, “I AM The Bread of Life. Whoever comes to Me will never hunger, and whoever believes in Me will never thirst. But as I stated, you have seen Me and still you do not believe. Everyone the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but to do the will of Him who sent Me. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For it is My Father’s will that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”
At this, the Jews began to grumble about Jesus because He had said, “I AM The Bread that came down from heaven.” They were asking, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then can He say, ‘I have come down from heaven?’’” John 6:25-41.
“Therefore Yeshua answered them, “Don’t murmur among yourselves. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day. It is written in the Prophets, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who hears from the Father and has learned, comes to me. Not that anyone has seen The Father, except he who is from God. He has seen the Father. Most certainly, I tell you, he who believes in me has eternal life. I AM The Bread of Life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and they died. This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, that anyone may eat of it and not die. I AM The Living Bread which came down out of heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. Yes, the bread which I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”” John 6:43-51.
He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in Me, and I in him.
The Jews could no comprehend those words of Eternal Life, Messiah Jesus spoke.
“Then the Jews began to argue with one another, saying, “How can this man give us His flesh to eat?”
And Jesus said to them, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood [unless you believe in Me as Savior and believe in the saving power of My blood which will be shed for you], you do not have life in yourselves.
The one who eats My flesh and drinks My blood [believes in Me, accepts Me as Savior] has eternal life [that is, now possesses it], and I will raise him up [from the dead] on the last day. For My flesh is true [spiritual] food, and My blood is true [spiritual] drink. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood [believes in Me, accepts Me as Savior] remains in Me, and I [in the same way remain] in him. Just as the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, even so the one who feeds on Me [believes in Me, accepts Me as Savior] will also live because of Me. This is the Bread which came down out of heaven. It is not like [the manna that] our fathers ate and they [eventually] died; the one who eats this Bread [believes in Me, accepts Me as Savior] will live forever.”” John 6:52-58 AMP
“Jesus said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum. On hearing it, many of His disciples said, “This is a difficult teaching. Who can accept it?”
Aware that His disciples were grumbling about this teaching, Jesus asked them, “Does this offend you? Then what will happen if you see the Son of Man ascend to where He was before?
The Spirit gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. However, there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray Him.)
Then Jesus said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to Me unless the Father has granted it to him.”” John 6:52-65 (John 14:6)

Brother Doug MacCallum: Thank you for sharing your comment. The 3rd Great Awakening that has started will help us comprehend and apply spiritual things.
Thank you for sharing the above article. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT!! I have been looking at 1Cor 11(- 12,13,14) for a bit. 1Cor 11:27-33, is The Key to True Koinonia. As a whole, “the Church” has not been “discerning The Lord’s Body”. Because it has been eating and drinking “in an unworthy manner” it has/is weak, sick, and, unless it changes, will BE JUDGED BY THE LORD, cf Mt 24:49; Lk 12:45; 1Pt 4:17; John 17:17-26; Eph 4:1-16.
