Word of Knowledge or Familiar Spirits?
“Here am I and the children whom the LORD has given me! We are for signs and wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, Who dwells in Mount Zion. And when they say to you, “Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter,” should not a people seek their God?
Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living?
To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them,” Isaiah 8:18-20 (NKJV).
I have to say this before I forget about it. When we play those games that tell you who your best friends are, and who is going to be in your life next year and all, I have always felt a bit strange about them and I am not putting anyone down for doing them, because I have myself.
But today, the LORD showed me something as an example as to how familiar spirits work, that is like these games.
He showed me how you have to sign in with Facebook to play them and how they gather your information in a skinny minute and come up with a profile about you to give you the idea that they know the future about you.
This is exactly how familiar spirits work, when for example, you go to a fortune teller, psychic, or witch.
They can tell you things you know about yourself from the years that they have been assigned to your family, many generations back. They say what they have seen, like, “I see that your brother who is dead did this to you or said that….”
They cannot truly see the future, but can only predict from what they know from that information. But only God can truly tell you the future!
“And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people,” Leviticus 20:6.
When we participate with that, we are being duped and it may stop us from hearing what the LORD is trying to get across to us and through us.
Many, even in the body of Christ, are participating in this.
The Word of Knowledge works similarly to this, but will lead you to your destiny and not away from dependence on Jesus.
Many even use this gift to make people dependent on them and their ministry.
We as prophetic people, must always point people to a relationship with the LORD and off their own with words that will draw them to that relationship, lest we become like fortune tellers… Just sayin’…
If you have ever participated in fortune telling, conjured familiar spirits, witchcraft, astrology, Ouija boards or any other form of fortune telling or listening to those who do, you must renounce and repent from it, in order for the LORD to use you in the prophetic realm.
Remember, He will work on you until you depend only on Him to show you things to come.
He wants pure motives to use this gift and the only motives that there are, are obedience, and love for the people and for God.
I pray Father, forgive us if we have participated in this without knowledge or ever have.
We renounce the enemy and his ways and ask the LORD to be LORD over all of our prophetic giftings.
We will not chase after those with a familiar spirit but we will only chase after you and your word! In Jesus’ Name, amen!
