Why Toil for That Which Will Not Sustain You?
“Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, to day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: when your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do always err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. So I sware in my wrath, they shall not enter into my rest,” Hebrews 3:7-11.
“Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness,” Isaiah 55:2.
“Today when you hear My voice, don’t harden it as they did in the wilderness. For I would have you to enter into My rest. For it is time that many of My own, would come to know Me; and to know that there are times of refreshing and rest.
Why do you toil for that which will not sustain you? Why do work for the bread that would not give you everlasting life?
You toil and toil, and work your days in the dust, and yet, I have given you life everlasting.
It was a curse put on man in the beginning; but now I have lifted that curse. Truly, all must work to earn a living, but the bread that you eat from your labors will not sustain your immortal soul.
For I AM the bread of life. I was broken and given to you.”
Selah,
