Why Must YOU Fast?
3 Words in 1
Separation Unto God
Separation does not only mean you moving a way from the corrupt company. It involves coming out from among evil people to the side of God. But not only that, much still, it entails at some point to leave the company of some “Good” person or people, in order to seek the favour of good God and His business.
You have done well to separate yourself according to 2 Corinthians 6:17, and it says,
“Come out from among them and be ye separate, says the LORD, touch not unclean thing, then I shall receive you, then I shall be your God and you shall be My people.”
This would be the initial level for all under God’s covenant terms of walking with Him…. But there is another level, the forsaking further, the separation that bespeaks the calling to serve, this is for the watchmen, this is for the priests, those with leadership responsibility over God’s people.
It is more painful at this second degree, because this now is above walk with God, but work for God. There is an Australian proverb that says, “It is lonely at the top.” Essentially and I believe there shouldn’t be many at the top, there should be divine limits demarcating those who survives and finally end at the top, who are few, of course.
You must exude character that matches the accountability and demands and terms of service. It is survival for the fittest, in essence, as relates to demands of being at the top. It is also a question, “Are you ready to exude willingness and stick to the responsibility of serving as faithful servant?”
God will judge the servants serving Him today on a little more higher pedestal, on account of them being flags and signs with bestowal to showcase God’s nature. Even before judgement day servants are already being killed by the sword of God for this simple none consideration, prophet Moses died, because he struck the rock in anger instead of speaking to it (him).
The LORD later on said, speaking about Moses’ non conformity, that the death penalty attached to this sin was because he did it in the watch of other Israelites. Moses misrepresented God to the people of Israel, as someone (God) who is easily angered.
And God had to sternly correct this and communicate to other Israelites believers by the sword in saying, “That is not me!” And so Jehovah killed Moses, and denied him the privilege of entering the promised land.
And if Moses, of all the people, the most glowing of all, the darling, could miss on the promise, who are we if we as leaders will rebel (sin) right in the glare of those we are leading? And so, because your separation is more serious and more accountable, you have to be careful on the manner you are serving him who has called you into the priesthood.
“Have Aaron your brother brought to you from among the Israelites, along with his sons Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, so they may serve me as priests”” Exodus 28:1.
here we see the seriousness by which the house of Aaron was singled out and called, they were to be brought before the LORD. But from where were they brought?
It was from their other counterpart tribes and brothers they were brought from outside where they were having normal life; God went for them and handpicked Aaron and his four sons. You go further and see the process of sanctification they were subjected to in order to qualify them to be priests, to transform them from ceremonial uncleanness to holy vessels.
And these rituals of slaughtering, washing, smearing with blood, garments and anointing with oil painted an everlasting picture that were to remind them perpetually as divine office bearers.
Later on, Aaron’s two sons (Nadab and Abihu) would forget and die when they offered illicit fire unto the LORD. And so the warning continues.
The History of the Hand of God!
I know none of any great political or socio-economic victory of any known nation that God was never involved in. It is to say, history of any nature, if genuinely written, will always highlight and Magnify the Acts of God in the unfoldings.
But today, where are Nations (and here I mean political class) who can say we are where we are because of the Hand of God.
Those achievements were realized because we have those who were praying for such to happen. God had to tell Moses, about 4,000 yrs ago, “I have heard the cry of my people and now I have come to deliver them from the Land of Bondage,” which was Egypt. But those crying were actually those praying.
Later on, Daniel the prophet understood by the books, the number of years specified by Jeremiah concerning captivity (Daniel 9:2), and he went into prayers to effect a political process. In 445 BC the official decree was given and they began to journey back from Babylon to build the temple.
But history still tells us more of God’s dealings. What about the American War of Independence? Even militarily history can not be silenced on God as the mighty Warrior who responded to the prayers of the saints.
The battle and evacuation at Dunkirk in 1940, baffled many in the manner it was carried and Winston Churchill in his national address attributed it to the hand of God. He said it was a miracle, but history writers don’t want to tell you it was God who did it.
What about the Israel rebirth in 1948? And later on the Israeli 6 days war victory of 1967?
I have sat with a church father who lived in Kenya and witnessed independence. He gave me an account how immediately after independence their was a planned military coup in 1964. It was something to encompass entire East Africa and when the LORD revealed this to the church, they literally prayed the bloody horses away.
This was the time of Zanzibar revolution and surrounding nations, but Kenya was preserved and ever since because of prayers Kenya has enjoyed the divine Providence.
I see many visions and I have given many prophecies to nations. Some end up in sad prophetic fulfillments, but also I have spoken by the mouth of God, and prayers of saints have averted unfortunate realities. And nations must give God the honour he deserves He must be honoured in the assembly of the Saints. And the inhabitants of the earth must fear God.
Why Must YOU fast?
You are asking yourself, “Must I fast?” and “When should I spend time fasting?” and “Is it really necessary that I fast?”
Well, if this was of no importance, our LORD wouldn’t have taught the church about it. He wouldn’t have led the practice of fasting as he did during his earthly ministry.
And so because he did it all the way, it is pivotal that today those who are his, should fast to the degree that He enjoyed His relationship with the Father, that comes with fasting as investment.
And so why, why must you fast?
It you were to begin today what would you be yearning to achieve by that?
The LORD began his ministry by fasting. It was after this that for the first time ever on earth, the angels descended and ministered to Him, there in Mathew 4.
But what led Him there in the wilderness? Previously he had just answered a call, a heavenly calling, when He willingly asked John to baptize him and that meant He had yielded to the sufferings, persecutions, a fight with Satan and most categorically, the nails and the cross.
Now when He walked from river Jordan, it really dawned on Him the significance of what it meant by the calling He had answered.
He began to see the virtual truth and that would mean it was really heavy on Him to the extent that He needed to answer it further and obey further. And so from the pool, he went and closed himself in the wilderness place of fasting.
For forty days he was tormenting the flesh and draining it away, and discharging any hold the flesh would have on him for his “cross” ministry.
I therefore found out that sometimes the calling upon us is so huge and way too big, that our body or soul would not be able to handle it. The way to arrive at Mount Moriah is painful and tearing the heart.
And man is known to either oppose or disfigure this path, the holy narrow climbing lane, yet when flesh is crucified in fasting, it forces obedience and slavery to serve, to serve only God and his purposes, no matter how terrible they are, no matter how uncommon they are viewed in the eyes of rebellious and ridiculous world.
When you are fasting, you are therefore answering heavenly calls to the highest degree and preciousness that it deserves.
In this way you are disarming the flesh as an enemy of heaven’s projects. And when God is for you who can be against you.
Shalom,

I was told that we can fast in different ways..not just food is that true?
I fasted before and didn’t watch TV or listen to worldly music for a week.
I felt better after that…
