Why am I Here?
You ask yourself: “Why am I Here?”
You think:
“My Christian life seems to have no purpose of any significance and it seems to be going nowhere.”
“Why does God keep me here and not take me home or use me more?”
God does have a purpose, but it is just that we cannot see it!
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus in good works, which God hath prepared that we should walk in them,” Ephesians 2:10 (DRB).
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them,” Ephesians 21:0 (KJV).
In other words: God has prepared us to do things for Him but in His timing and not ours.
You are here because He has a purpose for you and is at this time training you to be able to do it. If your work on earth for Him was finished. He would have taken you home.
Remember also, that it may be preparation to be with Him in heaven and may be serving no earthly purpose at that time.
So now you must patiently wait for Him to use you in any work He has for you while He uses the wait to mature you and prepare you for future ministry and to be with Him in heaven.
Meanwhile you promote your faith and develop it by doing well all the small things He asks of you. The Christian life is not won by doing a great thing, but by doing each day all the small things in the way He requires them done.
To complain about your situation is to say God has made a mistake and does not know what He is doing with your life!
This is why contentment is said to be a great thing, because it accepts the situation you are in trusting God is in control and gets on with life dealing with what God has given you to do at that time and does not worry about the future.
We are told that having food and clothes (what we need and not what we think we need) we should be content as that is what God had given us and we lose this contentment and peace when we desire in any way more than God wants us to do or have.
There is no purposelessness with God. It is just that we cannot see the purpose at that time.
