Whose Wisdom Is It?
We are living in a certain time, when we are called upon to seriously contemplate, just where did some of the things we were taught, come from? It did not seem to have been mentioned much in days gone by, that the apostles wrote about the kind of wisdom, many of us, might be exposed to. We often like to say that we follow their teachings, but we did not focus enough, on what they said about this subject. All of us likely heard that we needed to have wisdom; and also that many did not have it, or didn’t use it. We saw, what a lack of this Godly quality, could do.
The Spirit, saw the church, down through the years. He knew that many of us, would be reading the writings of those He inspired. There was a very good reason, that they wrote about wisdom, and who it might come from. I don’t know how, but we didn’t hear clearly, their warnings about those who would think they were wise; in their own eyes. Contrary to the way some of our attitudes projected, the NT Church, did not begin in this land we live in. People were receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost, a long time before anybody did here. We should all be humbled, that we were also included.
Why did Paul and the other writers, talk about the wisdom of men. Just what was he teaching about, when he said, “this wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.” We are being pressed upon by the Spirit; go back and review, how true wisdom really acts; it’s written very clearly. The wisdom that is from above, acts very different. He was speaking in another place and said, “which things also we speak, not in the words which ‘man’s wisdom’ teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth, comparing spiritual things, with spiritual.” What, is the Holy Ghost saying?
This is a critical time period, when we must pay close attention to what we are hearing. Paul said, “my speech and my preaching, was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom.” We have to hear this; and especially, the next words: “but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.” Just how do you demonstrate the Spirit; and how do you show forth, the power that this epistle was talking about. We see a lot of man’s wisdom today; it is so very rampant; claiming to have, what so many of us, cannot even demonstrate.
Teaching men’s wisdom, started a long time ago. What else was it, that was allowing people, to teach and preach some things, that were not even backed up by scripture. Who’s wisdom, told us to pick and choose things we wanted for our beliefs, and skip over the rest. What kind of wisdom, told us to feel that we were the only ones right, and all who didn’t believe the way we understood, were eternally lost. The Spirit, will re-teach us today, if we will humble ourselves, and seek His face. He is doing it for many of us, and has been for some time. But He asks us today, what is “meekness of wisdom.” Our wisdom, sounds like us. Can the real Teacher, begin now.
