Who Can Buy Love?
Who can buy love? Whether it be money, service or any other form of payment we only end up penniless and threadbare.
Our souls are as empty as our pocketbooks as we expend all in a vain attempt to purchase that which is priceless.
Yet this love that we would pay any price to receive is in fact without price. It is given freely. For those who have experienced this world and it’s system this kind of love seems too good to be true.
We reason, “I must give something to receive something.” Yet this is not so and as long as we hold onto this worldly ideal we will be unable to receive this love in the way that it was intended.
In contrast, what price was paid by the giver? He laid His life on the line, not to receive love, but so that we may. Still we tend towards not receiving it as such. Rather, we squint for hours on end as we search for something in the fine print that would limit it.
We cannot be the recipients of a love that is greater than we are willing to receive. Yet rivers do not flow through garden hoses nor are deep pools of water contained in a drinking glass.
There is but one right response to this scandalous love. We must embrace it with open arms and receive it with open hearts.
