Which Kingdom Are You Sowing Into?
Is there anything of significant lasting value that a man can set out to do apart from the LORD?
Even the greatest accomplishments of the earthly minded will pass away. The top inventions will eventually be cast into the rubble with all of the ruins of generations past.
Technologies shall pass away with the stroke of a pen. Monuments meant to celebrate the greatness and resolve of men will be nothing but dust.
Apart from God all is temporal.
- Governments and their various systems rise and fall.
- Economies and their denominations are built up and collapse.
- Great leaders take the helm of great nations but their powers lasts only for a time.
Times of plenty progress into times of scarcity seemingly overnight.
Religions and doctrines capture men’s attention only to have their foolishness revealed shortly thereafter.
We chase, pursue, push, pull and prod. We toil, sweat and bleed. We set our hearts to create something that will last through the generations and yet nothing remains, save that which is established in Christ.
Jesus told us that even the heavens and the earth would pass away but that His word remains.
So not only will this world’s system be brought to ruin, but the very foundation will be laid to waste.
Yet the word of God was, is and will always be. Ultimately then, the kingdom we turn our hearts toward will determine whether our success is temporal or eternal.
A day is coming where there will be great rejoicing. Yet on that very same day there will be much weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Which kingdom are you sowing into?
Lay Up Treasures in Heaven
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
The Lamp of the Body
“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”
You Cannot Serve God and Riches
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon,” Matthew 6:19-24 (NKJV).
