Where would I be without Jesus?
Where would I be without Jesus? In my mind I am drawn to various critical points where I was completely ensnared in Satan’s trap. I would be dead or slowly dying from the inside out had it not been for my rescuer. So what would have been is not. Instead I was brought back from the edge of my destruction. I was given a new path leading in a whole new direction. It’s not always an easy path but it leads to life.
Jesus was there waiting patiently for me even as I openly rebelled against Him. He has shown the kind of love that exceeds anything I have ever known. Clearly I am undeserving and yet He lavishes me with His affection. With the touch of His hand demons flee and the weight of my transgressions melts away like wax.
The irony in my story is this. What I was once so ashamed of and tried to hid from the world is now revealed for God’s glory.
I am certain that many can relate with what I am saying. Whether your just dabble in it or you are a world class sinner, apart from Jesus you are on the same road headed to the same place. While destruction comes sooner than it does for others, be sure that it comes to all who do not surrender their lives to Jesus and ask for His grace.
Time may seem to be of little importance. but when none remains it means everything. For those pondering these words but still unsure as to how to respond, know that there are only so many days, hours, minutes and seconds remaining for you. In less than a tick of the clock time is up. When that moment comes all the riches in the world cannot buy one more second. Before that moment comes, whether it is presently upon you or years away, you must be decided. Know this, indecision is a decision but it not a profitable one.
As you consider walking away from this uncomfortable moment, think again. This may very well be the last opportunity you have for redemption. No matter where you have been and no matter what you have done, forgiveness is now in your grasp. Will you stretch out your hand to receive it or will you let it slip away?
If you do not have a personal relationship with Jesus I invite you to pray with me.
God, I know I have been running from you but I don’t want to run anymore. On this day I choose to run TO you. I know that I have sinned and have fallen short of your perfect standard and I know that apart from your grace I will get what I deserve… death.
I choose to turn away from my sins. I choose to lay them at the foot of Jesus’ cross. I do not wish to continue on this path. I want to follow the one that you have established for me.
I have no answers of my own. I surrender all before you. I hold nothing back. I give you my heart, my mind, my body and my spirit. I declare that Jesus is my Savior and my Lord. Wash me clean of my sins and transform me from the inside out.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” Dwell on these words and what they mean and consider the words, “born again.”
