Where There is No Vision
“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he,” Proverbs 29:18.
This scripture is often quoted and remembered as something of great importance for a people, a nation, and even a world to keep in mind.
For truly without a vision, a foresight for the future, there is no plan that would sustain a people and give them hope.
But I would say to many, What is the vision that we should have as our goal?
It can be so easy to assume that what we propose as a vision is the right one and we state it and shout it from the rooftops.
Some would say that we would want to make America great again, and yet in saying that phrase are we wanting to put up a nation and bring all the others down again?
Some have proposed the idea that we are to change the entire nation and world in such a way that the film industry, the school system, our courts and every corner of society becomes something of a theocracy.
And yet while this may well sound good to some, perhaps the vision that God has in store is not this.
That may sound very startling to some but stay with me for a minute while I outline what I’m saying here.
I would say that it is a false dream that every corner of our society would be transformed into a Godly one when every type of depravity continues to rise each and every day.
I would say that when mass shootings have become the new normal in our schools, churches, malls, and other places, that a transformation is a sign of a sick society.
Of course we would want to change the course that our society is moving in, but the disease is deeper than just a sweeping brush of the hand that can be done.
The disease is just as evident as many sit in their pews every Sunday singing their songs and saying “Amen.”
The course is set and the vision that is forthcoming is one of judgment upon a nation that has turned its eyes to the poor and the wayward. The course is set for a land whose self-righteousness rises in its stench to the heavens.
Yes, the killing of innocent life in the womb is wrong, and yet the caging and separation of some coming to a land to seek shelter from violence is just as wrong.
The division and gulf that now exists in every corner of our land grows deeper and wider with every passing day.
Some prophesy a vision in their folly that would bring about a new era and a time of golden renewal in our land, and yet their eyes are blinded because they cannot see the hand of God’s involvement in what is to come.
Perhaps the only real true vision that will come and that is proposed by God, is one of a nation that will one-day rise from the ashes and then join hands with the poor and the outcast.
And yet the sad thing is that even when everything is taken away from some, then the foundation of selfishness can still rise again.
You see a vision, a true vision, needs to be one that is attainable and it needs to recognize the depravity of the human heart as it stands alone without the insertion of the Spirit of God.
But the day will come when there will be new heavens and a new earth. At that time then all sorrow will have been forgotten and night will have turned to day.
Then the people will not perish but they will be living out their days in the eternal light of God’s Glory.

Stephen Hanson of In His Truth Ministries came to the LORD is a special way in 1975 and has prophesied regularly since. In these end-time birthing pangs we are reminded that judgment must first begin with the household of God. Will we be prepared and ready?
Wonderful. Thank you.
