Where is The God of Elijah?
Last night I was reading the story in 2 Kings chapter 2 about Elijah and his successor Elisha. The Lord gave me this incredible word concerning the days ahead.
In 2 Kings 2:19 Elijah approached Elisha and threw his mantle over him which began Elisha’s earthly ministry as a servant to Elijah. Each day he followed Elijah closely and would not leave him for a moment.
After some time and many miracles later, when the Lord was coming to take Elijah, he asked Elisha; what may I do for you before I am taken away? Elisha responded; I want a double portion of your spirit (anointing). Soon after, a chariot of fire appeared, Elijah went up in a whirlwind and his mantle fell on Elisha and he received a double portion of Elijah’s anointing. Elisha then struck the water and asked, Where is the Lord God of Elijah?” The Lord responded as the water divided and Elisha crossed over. This is the second time Elijah’s mantle was placed upon Elisha and this time it was to began Elisha’s spiritual ministry. Many are asking in our day, where is the God of Elijah? We are coming into a time when we are going to witness the God of Elijah once again.
The Lord says, My servants will once again go before Me in the Spirit and power of Elijah. They will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just. They will prepare peoples hearts for the days ahead. I am raising up prophetic voices to declare My glory to this generation. They will be those who will trumpet My voice with clarity. They will be men and women who will walk in the anointing as in days of old. There will be miracles, signs and wonders performed through their hands as My anointing rests upon them and abides within them. They are men and women of valor who follow in the steps of My prophets who went before them, and follow My word wholeheartedly. Those who have put their hand to the plow and have not looked back are fit for the Kingdom and will inherit the promises. Those who have followed Me and have never retreated through difficult times and persecution, will receive their reward. They are bold and determined to stand up for what is rightfully theirs. They are warriors who know how to take back their land. They will take a stand against unrighteousness, sin and injustice, and they will be steadfast in their convictions.
They are those who know how to call down fire from heaven to destroy the works of the enemy and thwart the strategies of the kingdom of darkness. They know how to dismantle his works of mass destruction and destroy the plans from the camp of the evil one. They walk in divine wisdom, release unprecedented revelation and have keen discernment. The sword of My word will be in their mouths and they will be tenacious and unwavering in their faith because their strength is in Me. They are those who follow Me closely and will not deviate off the narrow path. There are many who I have placed My mantle upon, who have followed Me and served me with gladness. I will place My mantle of double anointing on their lives just as Elisha received a double portion of Elijah’s anointing. I will provide for them supernaturally and they will move on when the river dries up. They are a new breed and understand how to move with My leading and guidance. Supernatural encounters and signs will follow those who believe and many shall be used mightily in the days ahead says the Lord.
“And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?”
Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.” So he said, “You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.”
Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it, and he cried out, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!”
>So he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces. He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan. Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, “Where is the Lord God of Elijah?” And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over” 2 Kings 2:9 -14.
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father” John 14:12.
Blessings in Christ Jesus,
