Where Did Your Ax Head Fall?
Elisha had begun a school for future prophets and it had reached the point the facilities had become too small.
They had to go to Jordan and clear the land there for this very reason. As they were cutting the trees, an iron ax head fell into the water.
The servant ran to Elisha in a panic for the ax was borrowed. How would he ever retrieve it? Elisha asked him, “Where did it fall?”
When the servant showed him the place, he threw in a stick. By the mighty power of God, that iron ax head floated to the surface and the servant was able to retrieve it.
Where did it fall?
Where did that joy you once had fall?
Where did the power God gave you fall?
Where did your ax head fall?
You may be swinging and swinging and feel like you are getting nowhere. The ax head is the power that God wants to channel through your life.
If it has fallen or has become dull, the work God has given you can become difficult, your prayer life can become stagnant, the joy and zeal that should flow like a fountain begins to dry up.
The Spirit of God is that keen, sharp edge of your ax. The LORD is asking you, “Have you taken the time to sharpen your ax head?
Have you taken the time to see if it is still in place?
Do not lose it in the waters of worldliness or the creeks of criticism!
Do not let it fly off in the pond of prayerlessness! It can go any number of places, but it is time to get your edge back,” saith The LORD!
Just as recorded in this biblical account of Elisha is something that happens to everybody. Some time in life everyone borrows something, breaks something or loses something.
You get flustered and bent out of shape when it does. So if you have borrowed, broken or lost something, you are also a part of this story.
However in your flustered situation, you will always find God in the midst. He will help you find your ax head again.
He will help you get your edge back you once had. Child of God, your Heavenly Father knows all about your problem.
The iron of the ax head represents your burden and hopeless situation as it seems to be and just as Elisha threw a stick into the water, that stick represents the tree on which Jesus died.
It is confirmation that he has got everything in his hands and just as he made this iron ax head float, he is lifting you back to the top of your situation as well.
The LORD says, “I have great power I want to channel through you and as long as you choose to let that ax head lay in the water, that is where it will stay.
However if you choose to pick it back up, I AM going to bless you in such a mighty way.
If you have lost your ax head, where did it fall?” saith The LORD!
“Go back to where you lost it and pick it back up again!”
The Floating Ax Head
“6 And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we dwell with you is too small for us. 2 Please, let us go to the Jordan, and let every man take a beam from there, and let us make there a place where we may dwell.”
So he answered, “Go.”
3 Then one said, “Please consent to go with your servants.”
And he answered, “I will go.” 4 So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees. 5 But as one was cutting down a tree, the iron ax head fell into the water; and he cried out and said, “Alas, master! For it was borrowed.”
6 So the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” And he showed him the place. So he cut off a stick, and threw it in there; and he made the iron float. 7 Therefore he said, “Pick it up for yourself.” So he reached out his hand and took it,” 2 Kings 6:1-7.
