Where Are We Going to Spend Eternity?
It was just on my heart this morning about eternity and where people will spend it?
Some preach hell hot and heaven sweet.
Some today don’t even preach there’s a hell at all anymore.
It’s like hell quit existing for some reason?
Then some that preach hell all the time just may have a ‘religious spirit’.
They make it all about keeping the letter of the law. God forbid!
Very early on just one e.g.
In the 70’s someone I knew was smoking a ‘cigar’.
A woman who looked holiness on the ‘outside’, came up to him and said, “Young man, did you know your going to hell for smoking that cigar?”
That was wrong on so many levels.
The Church needs to speak the truth — but always speak in love, and not a harsh religious spirit.
“That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:” Ephesians 4:14-15
May I speak here that Jesus didn’t just die on the cross to save us from a burning hell.
Thank God that’s part and how glorious is that?
Still, Jesus came to redeem us back to what was lost from Adam and Eve’s fall.
We must keep a right balance always to where we even get heard when talking to the unsaved.
Also we must be the real deal to everyone we are around!
Some who claim to be Christians even dare to tell others “Go to hell!” I can’t even imagine wanting my worse enemy to go to hell.
That place called hell is where the fire never goes out or is ever quenched!
That person would need redemption themselves for sure.
Some even flip what we use to call ‘birdies‘ at others.
Where has our love gone in this generation?
We do know that love is the greatest gift of all?
“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
Can we love others when they are spitting in our face as they did Jesus?
Can we turn the other cheek when someone slaps us?
We get into, “You have got to take up for yourselves and don’t you dare let people run over you!”
*(Before I get kickback here)
In a certain aspect, that is true.
We should never be a ‘door mat’ to others.
The Bible talks about not giving our pearls before swine.
Still that is not what I am talking about here.
I am talking about surrendering our all to take up our cross and follow Jesus.
Each one of us must have a cross to pick up and bear.
“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” Matthew 16:24
Their is an old song, “Must Jesus Bear the Cross Alone?”
Christ likeness will always show the fruits of the Spirit in our lives to those around us.
Right here can I say, it is a strength to not allow ourselves to be ‘baited’ in an argument.
Also to take sides is usually not good, except siding with righteousness.
The truth should be what we are after and what will always stand.
You will always have to prop a lie up!
I feel simple kindnesses and manners are often a lost art this day and time.
You never know what a person is dealing with, so let’s show some mercy to others.
We have all failed and came short of the glory of God, that’s for sure!
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10
To conclude will share another article I wrote many years ago of a dream I had that is just as real to me today.
Let’s for sure get to truly caring about souls and where they will spend eternity.
God bless you all in 2024.

Amen! We always need that balance don’t we! Great article. I find for myself, to have that balance I must spend time daily in prayer and reading and studying God’s word! Consistently. As I do that,as well as surrender every area of my life, I find I am more aware spiritually, and more sensitive to the holy spirit. Jesus calls us to that perfect balance. Walking in love, never forsaking the truth.
Ahhh I’m so sorry, Mary Murray and Jeannie both. I only just saw your comments.
Both of you ladies, I treasure your comments. They were dear to my heart. May God richly bless and keep you both. Also my daughter also on this thread. ❤️
Yes Joyce, Love’s the greatest gift and power God’s given us to extend to the lost and our brothers and sisters in Christ. May we all Love one another.
That song “I surrender all” would go good with this
