When the Knock Goes Unanswered
A Message of God’s Hope
I am the furthest thing from perfect… nor would I pretend to be.
So… after a very stressful weekend recently involving a long term situation, I feel led to share what I feel in my heart.
There can be great freedom in transparency, not only for ourselves, but it can bring God’s HOPE to others!
Sometimes we are called to walk a journey that can seem never-ending. I myself have been on such a journey.
I journey that has lasted almost 8 years now. Suffice it to say, I am weary of battle.
Now I could list a multitude of scriptures like, “Don’t be weary in well doing,” etc., etc., but if we are being honest, which I am, no amount of quotes or platitudes “sometimes” will make it all better.
Now for those who would say I’m not leaning on God’s word, BELIEVE ME, I love and lean on God’s word. BUT sometimes you have to be honest and say what you feel.
You see, I have found that sometimes we are called to walk a road less traveled. A road that may be similar in some ways to another, but a road that may be more treacherous and wearing on our own person.
Why, may you ask? Well, the best answer I have gleaned from my journey is that we are not carbon copies.
What God needs to do in me to get me where I am called to be, will be different than your journey, and vice versa…
You see, my mother had a stroke around 7 years ago and I have had the lead role in helping/ caring for my parents.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my parents. However, this journey has had so many twists and turns, my compass has broken several times.
I believe that one day I will write about this journey. For now, however, I feel led to reach out to those who are walking a journey which you didn’t expect, or ask for.
A journey that has felt like you are walking through mud, up to your waist. A journey that you feel like you might not make it through to the other side.
Well my friend, I completely GET YOU!
What do you do when you’ve prayed in the spirit, prayed in the natural and done everything you know to do and the battle is not waning or changing?
And yes, I know that the word of God says to STAND, but I believe He has shown me something deeper.
Recently, while fasting and praying the LORD brought a scripture to my mind. Suffice it to say, that this scripture totally captures how I have been feeling.
You see, when we go to someone’s house and knock on the door, sometimes there is no answer.
If we know the person is home, then we have a choice to keep on knocking, or just move on.
You see, it’s the same when we are in battle and need answers and HELP. We have a choice.
Many times lately, I have thought of Jesus in the garden asking the Father to let this cup pass from him, if there was any other way.
Just think, if Jesus hadn’t stayed the course for you and for me… how different our lives and eternal life would be without Jesus.
So back the scripture God had given me,
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened,” Matthew 7:7-8 NLT.
You see, many times lately I have questioned God as to why this journey has been so LONG; why it’s been so hard; WHY the resolution and fix haven’t happened yet?
And honestly, I still don’t know what this journey is all about. Only God knows and I have a CHOICE to make.
Will I stay the course so God can do what He needs to do in my life? You see, this is what God spoke to me, regarding the scripture above.
Will I simply give in and throw in the towel?
Will I allow the enemy to win?
Will I have a pity party for one reserved for me? (Which is very easy to attend, mind you).
Or will I CHOOSE to pull myself up each and every day by the bootstraps and KEEP ASKING, SEEKING, and KNOCKING on the door of heaven?
We all know that God is HOME on His throne!
You see, sometimes we have to make an active choice to be that person who will not relent in our knocking!
So my friends, I do not even begin to say I know what you may be going through in your life, BUT I say, don’t give up HOPE, and I will not either.
Let’s KNOCK ON THE DOOR OF HEAVEN REPEATEDLY even though we may not get the answer and release as soon as we want it.
It’s our fortitude and perseverance that HE will honor if we just keep KNOCKING!
Blessings to you my friends, and I pray you are encouraged!
KNOCK! KNOCK! LORD! Here I am again!
Blessings and HIS abundant grace to you!
