When Competition Diminishes the Glory of God!
“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly *contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints,” Jude 1:3.
*Contend: according to Strong concordance G1864 ἐπαγωνίζομαι, epagōnizomai (ep-ag-o-nid’-zom-ahee) (from 1909 /epí, “focused on” a contest, competition”) – to struggle for: – earnestly contend for.
This afternoon as I was reading and studying my Bible, my son spoke a word to me and he said, “I see a house on fire!” I listened and thought I would pray about this as is spiritual.
But as I began to read the Word of God, the LORD released a Word to me that quickly got my attention about “The Spirit of Competition!”
According to Webster dictionary, “Competition is the activity or condition of competing with others which brings on rivalry, fighting, strife, feuding, conflict, envying, bitterness and etc.”
Can competition be good?
Of course it can, when we are warring and fighting against the rulers of darkness and wickedness in high places!
It is important for the believer because their goal is to up build the Kingdom of God and to have spiritual victory and faithfully follow Jesus Christ.
Satan’s goal was to competed against Christ when he tried to get him to turn stones into bread in the wilderness; as a result Christ out smarted and defeated Satan with the Word of God (Matthew 4:1–11).
As believers, we fight for the souls of the lost by sharing the gospel with them, and we must also compete with alternate worldly views to defeat false doctrines and other false truths just as Jesus did!
For, all these things the Lord said to me are the works of the flesh, and it does not belong in the body of Christ because it is an enemy against God and it is a deterrent that causes division in the body of Christ!
In other words, it hinders the work of Christ and the upbringings the Kingdom of Christ!
However; not all competition is indeed healthy.
Apostle Paul gave a sharp rebuke to the body of Christ and said,
“But for right now, friends, I’m completely frustrated by your unspiritual dealings with each other and with God. You’re acting like infants in relation to Christ, capable of nothing much more than nursing at the breast.
In other words, He was saying you have not matured and or grown up to realize the work is not about you!
Well, then, I’ll nurse you since you don’t seem capable of anything more. As long as you grab for what makes you feel good…
He was saying here that the people of God had begun to be carnal minded and instead of reaching and pressing for the mark of Christ they were reaching for the things that make the flesh feel good.
….. or makes you look important, are you really much different than a babe at the breast, content only when everything’s going your way?
COME ON SOMEBODY!
When one of you says, “I’m on Paul’s side,” and another says, “I’m for Apollos,” aren’t you being totally infantile? Who do you think Paul is, anyway? Or Apollos, for that matter? Servants, both of us – servants who waited on you as you gradually learned to entrust your lives to our mutual Master.
We each carried out our servant assignment. I planted the seed, Apollos watered the plants, but God made you grow.
The LORD wants His people to know that in order for him to come we are going to have to decrease while he increases and then and ONLY THAN WILL THE TRUE GLORY SHOW UP!
It’s not the one who plants or the one who waters who is at the CENTER OF THIS PROCESS BUT GOD, who makes things grow. Planting and watering are menial servant jobs at minimum wages. What makes them worth doing is the God we are serving.
(I sure pray the body of Christ caught that nugget
You happen to be God’s field… (Whose field?)
in which we are working. Or, to put it another way, you are God’s house. Using the gift that God gave you as a good architect, one designs the blueprints; Apollos is putting up the walls. But, let each carpenter who comes on the job take care to build on Christ’s foundation!
Remember, there is only one foundation, the one already laid: Jesus Christ. Take particular care in picking out your building materials. Eventually there is going to be an inspection. If you use cheap or inferior materials, you’ll be found out. The inspection will be thorough and rigorous. You won’t get by with a thing. If your work passes inspection, fine; if it doesn’t, your part of the building will be torn out and started over. But you won’t be torn out; you’ll survive – but just barely.” (1 Corinthians 3:1-15 MSG)
God is speaking loud and clear in this season and all that want to be apart of the building must begin to build and to lay the foundation that is apart of the kingdom! If not that house will surely come to ruin!!!
Remember, It is not about you but all about Christ and his Glory!!! (1 Corinthians 3:1-23).

Since hearing the audible voice of God calling her to ministry, she’s been called to intercede and pray for others in ministry as God speaks, instructs, directs and gives prophetic words for her to give to others. God promised He would bring her to sit and to learn before great men, all of which He did!
