Jesus said in Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.“

I was sitting on my bed and was surprised when Jesus asked me what attitudes we should have when attending church or a meeting of Christians fellowshipping.

I had thought I was not going to write any more for this website, so this must be important and was completely unexpected.

Jesus said three things:

“You must come in a state of holiness, meaning you have no unconfessed sins you know of, and have forgiven all who have offended you and tried to reconcile to them.

You must come in an attitude of worship to Me as God, so you know your relationship to Me.

You must come with praise and thankfulness for what I have done for you and others.”

In other words, you must come to meet Jesus with the right attitudes, so that you can relate to Him correctly and have fellowship with Him and the Body, and not just come to a social event, which is what it becomes if you do not relate to Him correctly.

Without holiness, you cannot personally meet God, as you are defiled and cannot enter His presence.

You can be in a Church, as it is not The Kingdom of God, but you will not be with Jesus in that Church or anywhere else.

You must come in an attitude of worship before a Holy God, ruler of all, so that you will worship Him correctly.

While you are His step brother, a Church service is a formal occasion where you are approaching The King of all, as a citizen of His Kingdom.

So you must show the respect due to Him when you are in His presence.

You should show your appreciation to Him for all He has done for you, and also declare His greatness to all around as you meet Him.

One problem with many people, is that they go to Church for the activities of the Church and not to meet Jesus, who is usually watching from the sidelines as they ‘celebrate’ the service about Him and not with Him.

Jesus said 80% of people who call themselves Christians would not go up in the rapture because they knew of Him, but did not know Him.

Perhaps the way most Church services are conducted fuels this wrong attitude of people.

Jesus asks: “How do you relate to Me when you go to Church or a Christian activity?”
