What is the opposite of SEEK —- AVOIDANCE
Avoidance Behavior — a pervasive pattern of avoiding/withdrawing from interaction with a particular person or thing (in this instance we are talking about God). Why would we have problems getting close to or seeking out the presence of the Almighty God. Avoidance behavior is a defense mechanism that occurs in people that comes from various traumas that are developed as a result of experiences that have occurred in the persons’ life and so the person sets up this wall/stronghold of defense because there is a FEAR that the end result will be like previous negative experiences.
Are there times that we avoid God?
Is it because we are experiencing:
Rejection, criticism of others, low self-esteem, stubbornness, mistrust, escapism, emotional outburst, inferiority, humiliation, being abused, self-critical, abandonment, tormented, intellectualism, hopelessness.
We have got to process things: things that remain unresolved in our minds/hearts can hinder the spirit of God from fully ministering us and dealing with/working through/and receiving proper healing will help remove from us the pain associated with those memories that Satan want to reminds us and tell us it can never be resolved, which can promote anger, frustration and carry feelings of depression. But it is set in us the fear of becoming close to people, God and avoiding relationships in order to keep secure. But these are set to instill fear in the minds and hearts of God people. Now is the time to remove the fear factors. We must pray and begin to heal by:
• Forgiveness and release
• Deliverance
• Asking the Lord to help us process these things
• Learning to guard our hearts
• Casting down thoughts, imaginations that the enemy wants to exalt over God’s word.
• Allow the Lord to love us—and open up areas of trust again
• Humble ourselves—remove the wall around us
