What Is That Despicable Thing Doing To You?
That despicable thing — the thing that the Bible calls a serpent — is the thing that mocks God and whose name is not even worthy to be mentioned, because it means nothing to us.
His main goal is only to steal, kill and destroy, and he likes to gloat.
He even told Jesus, our Lord and Savior that he can give the world to Jesus after Jesus was tempted in the wilderness after He was baptized at the Jordan by John the Baptist, his cousin.
Note that he likes to gloat.
Do you feel hopeless?
Do you feel despair?
Do you feel like giving up?
Do you find that your sleep has been interrupted in the last five days in a row or even years?
Do you feel like God has forgotten you?
Do you feel like God has blessed everyone but yourself?
That, child of God, is the devil gloating over your circumstances, in a similar way he did back then with Job.
So what do you do?
Do you go and try to size him up?
No, that would not be wise. Satan is no joke when we stand on our own. But with the authority of God and God’s power, you can begin to war against him in your life.
Whenever you begin to see Satan overwhelming you with circumstances that are not in your favor, you can begin to use spiritual warfare by saying out loud,
“Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it,” Colossians 2:15.
This will remind Satan that first God has made a public spectacle of him and his evil forces.
And second, it will let him know that you, child of God is not afraid of standing in the authority God has given to you through the Blood of the Lamb, the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
Another part of spiritual warfare includes deliverance. There are some ministries you can go to for deliverance and you may also do self-deliverance.
And then begin to study and meditate on Ephesians 6:10-20 and Psalm 91, so you may have the Armor of God around you and to protect you from the wiles of the enemy.
There a lot of things in life that we cannot control. But it is also good to start strengthening your offense and defense in these areas simply so the enemy shall no longer have any foothold on you.
If you have any bitterness or unforgiveness, please let that go immediately. Unforgiveness and bitterness are like master keys for the devil to unlock the door to your spiritual life and began to wreak havoc — sometimes gradually and sometimes with immediate effects or manifestation.
Many Christians, especially Christians of several generations do not necessarily have to battle the enemy in this way. In my observations, it is those who had some sort of pagan, occult, or divination — such as Freemasonry, New Age, Voodooism and other pagan/occult practices — backgrounds or bloodlines tend to face battles from the enemy in horrible patterns, and you, as a child of God can always operate in the defense and offense even for yourself.
Jesus is your only intercessor. It is nice to get help from others sometimes, but if we are humble enough to seek Him for wisdom, He will give us the ability to overcome Satan wreaking havoc in our lives.
So what is that despicable thing doing to you, your family and your life?
Begin reminding him of Colossians 2:15 and praying a hedge of protection over your life. Look out for patterns, recognize them and cast them out yourself, because you, just like any minister of God is a child of God and have the same access, as long as you are humble enough to meet God where He is, instead of expecting God to always meet you where you are, because Jesus already did that when He saved you.
He looked at you where you were before you gave your life to Jesus. And when you said, yes to Him, He was there where you were.
Now is the time to be humble and look up where He is, and operate from humble-glory (this is so hard to explain — you need to be confident of your place in Jesus, but you also need to be humble about your place in Jesus) to humble-glory.
It is like you have a crown being given to you, but you put it back down at Jesus’ feet.
It’s like having an attitude you know you are a princess or a prince, but yet you are humble to consider yourself equal with or even lower than all your brothers and sisters in Christ because they too are princes and princesses of God — the One Who Reigns Forever and Ever.
It is remembering that you are a child of God, and that despicable thing belongs to the space underneath your feet.
