What Delights You, LORD?
A psalm to praise and sing to GOD, out loud.
What Delights You, LORD?
What delights You, LORD?
What pleases You, LORD?
What puts a smile
On Your Lips and Heart?
What delights You, LORD?
Not a prideful heart, but one filled with contrition
Eyes that are not haughty, but filled with gentleness
A tongue that does not lie, but speaks truth
Hands that do not murder, but sustain life
A heart that does not connive, but displays brotherhood
Feet not racing down a wicked track, but walking in obedience
A mouth that does not lie under oath, but speaks truth always
Not a troublemaker in the family, but he who lives in harmony
He is the LORD who exercises
Lovingkindness
Judgment
And Righteousness
In the earth
For in these things He Delights
What delights You, LORD?
What pleases You, LORD?
What puts a smile
On Your Lips and Heart?
What delights You, LORD?
Mercy and obedience instead of sacrifice
A turning away from sin and showing repentance
Humbleness and a resting at Your Feet
Joy upon Your Beloved’s faces
And the LOVE they have for You!
What delights You, LORD?
What pleases You, LORD?
What puts a smile
On Your Lips and Heart?
What delights You, LORD?
Songs of praises on Your Beloved’s lips
As they walk by faith
Trusting You completely
Their complete surrender to You
Seeking companionship with You
What delights You, LORD?
What pleases You, LORD?
What puts a smile
On Your Lips and Heart?
What delights You, LORD?
Not the man who glories in his wisdom, no
Not the man who glories in his might, no
Not the man who glories in his riches, no
But a man who seeks the LORD
Who understands and knows Him!
He is the LORD who exercises
Lovingkindness
Judgment
And Righteousness
In the earth
For in these things He Delights
What delights You, LORD?
What pleases You, LORD?
What puts a smile
On Your Lips and Heart?
What delights You, LORD?
“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 9:23-24.
“Here are six things God hates, and one more that he loathes with a passion: eyes that are arrogant, a tongue that lies, hands that murder the innocent, a heart that hatches evil plots, feet that race down a wicked track, a mouth that lies under oath, a troublemaker in the family.” Proverbs 6:16-19.
“For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” Psalm 51:16-17
“With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?” He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:6-8
“And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” Mark 12:33.
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” Romans 12:1.
“And if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless.” Matthew 12:7
“For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.” Hosea 6:6.
