What Are We Doing Here?
“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?“ Esther 4:14.
Let me rephrase this for today.
“For if you remain silent at this time, renewal and revival will arise from another place, and you and your Church will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your position for such a time as this?“
In these troubled times, we are acutely aware that we appear to be in the Biblically prophesied ‘End Times’.
Strange weather — storms, hurricanes, cyclones, snow storms and the like; earthquakes more common each day; strange new diseases — all prophesied as “the earth groaning as in childbirth” in relation to the coming of the end times. Wars, rumours of wars, political unrest, lies, jealousy, persecution and so on.
With all the activity going on, I get the impression we are like Elijah in 1 Kings 19:11-14,
“The LORD said, ‘Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of The LORD, for The LORD is about to pass by.’
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before The LORD, but The LORD was not in the wind.
After the wind there was an earthquake, but The LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but The LORD was not in the fire.
And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.
Then a voice said to him, ‘What are you doing here, Elijah?’“
What are we doing here, wherever we are, for the Kingdom of God?
If we are not here for such a time as this, then who is?
If we are not in the position we are, with the people we are with, doing what we are doing, if not for such a time as this.
Have we grown so complacent that it is “somebody else’s job — not mine”?
Have we grown so smug in our self-righteousness that we have lost sight of the fact that there are millions of others as yet un-saved?
We have the consummate privilege of being part of God’s end time army — whatever else we may think.
We have none of us arrived where we are by chance. God, in His infinite mercy and wisdom, has placed each and every one of us just where we are for such a time as this. But what is “such a time as this”?
We are in the end times.
We don’t know when Jesus will come for His Bride, but we do know there is a great ‘final harvest’ of souls to be won.
What are we doing here — if we are not on Kingdom Business, doing Kingdom Work for the Kingdom Plans of the KING?
What are you doing here Elijah? Yes — What are we doing here?

Dear Chris, I am hearing echoes of “What are we doing here?” For three days now, I have awakened, saying, Lord, Who am I really? What am I doing here? And He said, embrace the time and season for you were born for such a time as this. Thanks for another confirmation. Surely the pen of the ready writer has been placed in many hands as the Lord is enabling them to begin a brand new chapter “for such a time as this”. Blessings, my brother, Sandi
Some of us are just waiting for the sound of rain. To cleanse away all that is not of God. Soon and to soon for many because all will be much different afterwards. The. First time with water this time with fire. All that is not of truth will be burnt up with intense heat. The fire of the spirit not physical flames and only a few moments away.
