We Must Think Soberly or Else Fall
It is our own choice. Let me emphasis that again… It is our own choice!
It can be a great fall if we don’t Watch and Pray — at all times — that the enemy does not sneak in on us!
Good morning.
I believe this will be Part 1 today. This is to all Christians and all leaders out there.
It starts with baby, immature Christians and goes on to mature believers in Jesus Christ who this is to also.
The leaders definitely fall into this category.
First, it must speak to me as I teach it. I stand before a Holy God with this message!
It is a strong warning to watch and pray for all of us, that a little arrogance and pride does not slip in.
Mostly I will let the Word of God in Scriptures present this, with only interjections to bring some fine points out.
In my lifetime I, as well as you have seen many Christian leaders fall. At some point if they, (us) had checked ourselves closer we would not have ever gotten off tract.
Apostle Paul warned:
“For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” Romans 12:3
We know every good and perfect gift is from above. Still no matter how highly gifted and anointed any of us are, we must Watch and Pray!
We also must remember the gifts and callings are without repentance.
Still they may operate in a person, but something has went wrong when pride slips in!
We might not be in outbreaking sin at this point, but if ‘pride’ has come in it will show up in the Word we present to others.
“A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring. It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory. He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.” Proverbs 25:26-28
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.” Proverbs 23:7
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18
Concluding with what we muse do:
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” 2 Corinthians 10:5
We see we must put on the mind of Christ. This is crucial in our Christian walk. It is a renewal daily.
“For who hath known the mind of The LORD, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:16
“Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ,” 1 Peter 1:13
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” Romans 12:2-3
It is all by submission to a Holy God and letting Him reign Supreme in our hearts and lives.
We must take all thoughts captive before they become a stronghold and arrogance and pride slip in.
This is for someone today!
Still it is to all who will listen and heed. The LORD wants to help is and not hurt us.
God bless you all.
