We Learn Obedience – through Suffering
“Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation,” Hebrews 5:8-9.
“Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me,” Matthew 16:24.
“There are many on this road to life that I have called. But how many of you have taken up your own cross to follow Me? I went to the cross for you, but I have also called you to carry your own cross.
I have called you to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For the cost is great, but the rewards are also much greater. For I suffered in the life that I walked upon this earth, and I’ve also called you to walk out a life worthy of Me.
I have said that my burden is light and my yoke is easy, and while this is true, it is also true that you must walk the path that is before you.
For I have called my sons and daughters to obedience. My Son learned obedience through the things that He suffered. You also can learn obedience through these things. For you learn a greater dependence upon Me through these things.
And in the coming months and years, when the world around you is growing darker, your times of suffering and tribulation, will have helped to prepare you for them. For how would you be ready if your life was always paved with ease?”
Selah,
