We Can’t See Everything on the Horizon
“For as you look out towards the horizon, you can see the distant trees but you can’t yet distinguish all of the details. So it is with all of the things I’ve planned for you. In time all of these things will unravel for you.”
This is a portion of a word I just sent to a good friend of mine. I believe that this has bearing for all of us in the body of Christ. For even as we have been given certain inklings of things that are to come for us personally and even collectively, we are only given a portion of all of that information.
If the Holy Spirit would unfold everything to us, then we couldn’t contain all of the information, and perhaps we might even think or get to the point, where we wouldn’t be dependent upon Him, but we would only rely upon ourselves.
This would put us in a very precarious place, for we would fall prey to all kinds of deception.
No, God only gives us a portion, a piece of what He has planned for us. I am always reminded by a psalm of King David, for he has said,
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path,” Psalm 119:105.
You see, we aren’t given a beacon that sheds its light down the pathway in front of us. His light shines just in front of our feet, and it isn’t shed miles ahead for us to see everything.
Certainly, that light will expose those things that are ahead in our pathway. We will see those rocks and the debris that is ahead in front of us; but only within perhaps a short distance will we see them.
We perhaps have seen or heard about, thermal imaging, as it allows one to see areas of heat in the darkness where otherwise, we would be blind to it. God’s light exposes those things hidden in the darkness, and then we are equipped to be kept safely from harm.
The Holy Spirit will unfold those things to us if we seek Him with a pure heart, expecting that we would hear from Him. But it will come in pieces and not in the full picture.
Selah,
