We are ALL called to Serve!
“For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be,” Matthew 6:21.
We are all called to serve.
It is a great privilege to serve others by helping them to discover and pursue their personal calling in life.
We are also called to be good stewards of the Time, Talent, and Treasure that they so generously offer.
Time
Some of us are blessed with the gift of Time, whether it is a few hours once a week or an hour every day. We are called to consider filling those periods of time with some act of service, from caring for someone when they are grieving, to serving a meal to the homeless. Our time spent wisely and with lavish compassion shows us to be good stewards of the gift of Time.
Talent
All of us have been blessed with some skill or talent, but sometimes we think that our “talent” is not good enough. However, the desire to try to participate in a new activity or service sometimes helps us to grow in our skills.
Many who participate in ministries or organizations take a leap of faith, offering what they have, and discover that there was more inside of them than they knew. Some have been blessed with special talents – whether it is the ability to relate to others, to create beauty through art or music, to think strategically and organize plans and events, to impart your knowledge and teach others, etc. Remember what Jesus said about not hiding your light under a bushel
Treasure
In these turbulent economic times, those who are going through job losses or difficult times, appreciate most gratefully the gifts of your material Treasure. And, as we know, there is often a decisive sacrifice involved.
In Matthew 6:21 we are told, “For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.”
Many of us wonder if our “Widow’s Mite” makes any difference. Please be assured that every gift, no matter the size, is a significant blessing to someone who is desperate for relief. Generosity is not measured by the size of the treasure shared, but by the size of the giving heart!
Let us All Honor Our Loving God with our Time, Talent and Treasure!
