Water and Floods
An excerpt from the Hebridean Revival in 1949.
There were three hundred (300) people in a prayer meeting and Duncan Campbell remembered:
“Just as I am walking down the aisle, along with this young deacon who read the Psalm in the barn. He suddenly stood in the aisle and looking up to the heavens he said, “God, You can’t fail us! God, You can’t fail us! You promised to pour water on the thirsty and floods upon the dry ground — God, You can’t fail us!”
Soon He is on his knees in the aisle and he is still praying and then he falls into a trance again. Just then the door opened — it is now eleven o’clock.
The door of the church opens and the local blacksmith comes back into the church and says, “Mr. Campbell, something wonderful has happened. Oh, we were praying that God would pour water on the thirsty and floods upon the dry ground and listen, He’s done it! He’s done it!”
Outside stood another six hundred (600) people who had just ‘gathered’ because they felt drawn to the church!”
It is this cry that “God would pour water on the thirsty and floods upon the dry ground.”
This is pounding through my head again and again and again at the moment.
I wonder if God is speaking to us again? I wonder if He is repeating His promise that He will indeed pour water on the thirsty and floods upon the dry ground?
This is what I hear Him saying to us. “Just as I have done before, so will I do again. If my people will repent, and humble themselves, and cry out for Me to pour water on the thirsty and floods upon the dry ground, so will I do it! I will not do it for them but for My Kingdom, because the Kingdom of God draws nearer to you day by day by day.
The nearer My Kingdom comes to you, so the more will I pour the living water of My Holy Spirit upon you — and the more you shall see My Glory among you.
The more you see My Glory among you, the more will those I seek turn to Me for their own and their family’s salvation.
As Word and Spirit come together, so will My Glory be revealed, and the more. All you have to do is to cry out for Me to pour water on the thirsty and floods upon the dry ground.
Then wait upon Me to move. Be ready to care for the harvest. Be ready to be those of whom I said, “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because The LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of The LORD’s favour and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness,a planting of The LORD for the display of his splendour.”
“That hour is approaching and you need to keep telling My People to prepare, to get ready, to seek My face, and to pray without ceasing.
I AM coming — SOON!”
