Watching The Clouds
A psalm to praise and sing to God, out loud.
Watching The Clouds
Here I lie in the grass watching the clouds in the blue sky
The afternoon passes and time is no longer on my mind
My mind drifts, leaving the cares of this world behind
When Your Breath blows,
The clouds move singularly
Changing shape
Like the millennia that have come and gone
They fade and form according to Your Will
For they belong to You eternally
And I am reminded that You O Great Creator
Are the Source of everything
Everything surrounding me and everything unseen
And I too am like the clouds
Shaped by You
Guided by You
Belonging to You
For I am the clay and you are The Potter;
You are the Author and Finisher of my faith.
Here I lie in the grass watching the clouds in the blue sky
The afternoon passes and time is no longer on my mind
My mind is content with the peace You give
At the simplicity of the clouds above my head
To the worldly, they do not understand
Some may even say that my head is in the clouds
But really it is my heart resting in Yours
Marveling at Your Majesty and Power
For all belongs to You eternally
And I am reminded that You O Great Creator
Are the source of everything
Everything surrounding me and everything unseen
You mesmerize me and take my breath away
In one moment You are this —
In one moment You are that —
In all moments You are Everything
For I am the clay and You are the Potter
You are the Author and Finisher of my faith
For without You I am nothing
For I belong with You for eternity
And I know that someday
I will be caught up into the clouds
On the Day of Your Son’s Second Coming
Oh blessed be,
Oh blessed be,
Oh blessed be with Your Glory surrounding me!
