Understanding and Applying Spiritual Things
Understanding and applying spiritual things with our spirit is beyond human comprehension.
Yet we can understand and apply them, for God our Father has blessed us with a spirit.
Jesus explained to Nicodemus how we see and enter The Kingdom:
“Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 emphasis added.
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” John 3:5-6 emphasis added.
Paul tells us: “The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit, that we are children of God.”
“Those who are in the flesh can’t please God. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn’t have the Spirit of Messiah, he is not his. If Messiah is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him who raised up Yeshua from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Messiah Yeshua from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
“So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God. For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
“The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God; and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Messiah, if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.” Romans 8:8-17 emphasis added
Paul blesses us with these spiritual blessings.
“The grace of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah be with your spirit, brothers [and sisters]. Amen.” Galatians 6:18.
“May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah,” 1 Thessalonians 5:23.
“The Lord Yeshua the Messiah be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.” 2 Timothy 4:22.
“The grace of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah be with your spirit. Amen.” Philemon 1:25.
Paul tells us about being in the Spirit.
“Follow after love and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. For he who speaks in another language speaks not to men, but to God, for no one understands, but in the Spirit he speaks mysteries,” 1 Corinthians 14:1-2.
“Therefore let him who speaks in another language pray that he may interpret. For if I pray in another language (tongues), my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What should I do? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also. I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who fills the place of the unlearned say the “Amen” at your giving of thanks, seeing he doesn’t know what you say? For you most certainly give thanks well, but the other person is not built up. ” 1 Corinthians 14:13-17.
“We speak wisdom, however, among those who are full grown, yet a wisdom not of this world nor of the rulers of this world who are coming to nothing. But we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the wisdom that has been hidden, which God foreordained before the worlds for our glory, which none of the rulers of this world has known. For had they known it, they wouldn’t have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written,“Things which an eye didn’t see, and an ear didn’t hear, which didn’t enter into the heart of man, these God has prepared for those who love him.” But to us, God revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For who among men knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so, no one knows the things of God except God’s Spirit.
But we received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might know the things that were freely given to us by God.
We also speak these things, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual things.
Now the natural man doesn’t receive the things of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to him; and he can’t know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual discerns all things, and he himself is to be judged by no one. “For who has known the mind of the Lord that he should instruct him?” But we have Messiah’s mind.” 1 Corinthians 2:6-16 WMB emphasis added.
