If Two shall Agree!
The wisest man said; ‘Two are better than one” (Ecclesiastes 4:9). This is true in our day to day lives, but even more significant in our spiritual walk. Two can accomplish much more than one, both quantitatively and qualitatively. However, that is when the two agree together to accomplish the task at hand. Agreement is important where there is more than one person. The bible says; “Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?” Amos 3:3. Agreement between two people or parties fosters unity, and where the unity of the Spirit is maintained supernatural things happen. Jesus made it clear to us, as to what happens when two agree in prayer; anything is possible.
“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:19-20. These were the words of Jesus, showing us the power of agreement in prayer. It takes two to agree on earth, concerning anything in prayer. Think about it!! If these two people agree on anything, meaning everything, in prayer, God will do it for them. Before you remember the days you prayed with a friend, but nothing happened; first establish this great truth. This prayer is made in agreement; unity of the spirit, the pray-ers must be of one mind, one spirit and releasing their faith together. No truth stands on its own, all other basic requirements of prayer are involved here; praying in Jesus’ name, according to God’s will and led by His Spirit. This is all easy and possible for a child of God. However, what most people fail in is the act of coming to an agreement in prayer. Just because you are in the same prayer meeting, praying over the same need, doesn’t mean that you are all in agreement. Agreement is a result of having the same perspective over a matter and you both want the same results for the same reasons, with no selfish motives. It will amaze you to know that even when two people are praying over the same thing, they might have different perspectives of what they want. It might appear obvious that those in need, desire a miracle, but it is not always so; some would rather stay vulnerable, pitied by all those who see them and others get a false sense of ‘love’ since everyone is saying sorry.
Many times Jesus asked those who called out to Him or came to Him with a need, what they wanted Him to do for them; He wanted to agree with them for what they wanted. Make sure when you agree to pray with another that you share the same perspective and that you are both equally releasing your faith for the desired results. When you pray concerning anything, it will be done for you by your Father in heaven, hallelujah! There is power in numbers, but only when they are united. The unity of the Spirit is very paramount in our progress in life. The church in Acts experienced great results because of this; the Holy Spirit descended when they were in one accord (Acts 2:1-2). After three thousand had been converted to the Lordship of Christ, this is what happened; “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved” Acts 2:42,46-47. No wonder much was accomplished by them in their undeveloped world!! When threatened, they agreed together in prayer; “And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord” Acts 4:23-24.
And when their foremost leader was imprisoned, they still prayed in agreement and a miraculous rescue for Peter was registered; “Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church” Acts 12:5. This bore the fruits of the prayer of agreement Jesus talked about; they prayed for his release from prison, even when it seemed impossible. He was guarded by 16 soldiers (four squads), behind two guard posts and an iron gate, and Herod was determined to execute him after Passover; but God sent an Angel that night for the first ever supernatural prison rescue (Acts 12:1-8). This is what the prayer of agreement will accord you; miraculous happenings. Do not worry because in your family or place of work, there is no one you can agree with; you don’t have to be in the same place to agree. Find someone or a group that you can share with unreservedly about your need, agree on the desired results and commit your faith to it through prayer, you will experience great miracles.
This month of July we are in intense prayer as a ministry and we want to agree with you for a miracle. Send us your request and if you have some explanations to make, feel free and we will stand together in prayer. Send your email to:
