True North
We have all heard the phrase… “New Year, New You…”
It’s a great motivational phrase to get you moving in the right direction!
Take time to reflect on the past year and look forward into your future. It can be painful, but we all need to evaluate the trials and failures of last year.
Your list may be long or it may be short when your evaluation is done.
Regardless of the length of your list, consider starting with a heart check before you delve into your new self-improvement plan.
Everything we are is focused around the heart. Clearly if our heart stops beating then we cease to exist on this earthly plain.
However, there is a spiritual aspect to our heart as well!
“So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are. Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life,” Proverbs 4:23 TPT.
Our True North begins and ends within our hearts! It is the compass of our innermost being.
Was your compass damaged in the last year?
Where you knocked off course by many attacks physical, emotional, spiritual, or even financial?
With each attack the enemy brings the opportunity for negative emotions and patterns into your heart and mind.
Have you unknowingly clogged the spiritual arteries to your heart with unchecked negative emotions?
We know through the Word of the LORD, that the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy… (John 10:10).
The enemy is very stealthy in his approach to our hearts! The attacks come, we get knocked off our feet, and the enemy comes knocking.
Have we opened the door and let the enemy take residence in even the smallest of ways in our heart?
You see, if we give him and inch, he will undoubtedly take a mile! In my opinion, doubt is the enemies biggest gateway to the heart.
If he can cause us to doubt our Heavenly Father, just like he so cleverly did with Eve in the garden, then he has officially got his first hook into the flesh of our heart.
It is then that the gateway to our hearts are wide open for assault. Doubt is like a runaway train emotionally.
Once seeds of doubt are planted its like a hybrid plant of many distortions. Whatever the circumstance of the attack upon you, if doubt takes root in the heart, it will grow other negative emotions within it.
If the enemy can get us to doubt the true love and care of God for us, then we are open to a full assault on our heart.
If we doubt the goodness of our Heavenly Father we can step into anger, resentment, un-forgiveness (of ourselves and others) and oppression.
Has your door been opened to the enemy in the last season?
If so, all is not lost, you are a precious child to a loving and forgiving God!
Jeremiah 29:11 is a LIFE GIVING verse and PROMISE from God!
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope,” NKJV.
This verse is a promise from your Heavenly Father!
“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” Numbers 23:19 NKJV.
God is not a liar nor can he lie! The enemy is the father of lies from which the spirit of doubt comes!
If you are feeling you need to break free from the assaults on your heart from last season, let us pray together!
Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names!
Father you have seen my struggles and trials in the past year.
I choose this day to kick doubt to the curb.
I choose this day to restore my faith and belief in your complete loving kindness and goodness!
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting,” Psalm 139 23-24 NKJV.
It is my desire to start afresh in the power and spirit of my Heavenly Father.
LORD, where I have allowed doubt to take root in my heart, which has fostered any anger, resentment, un-forgiveness (of myself and others) hatred/ jealousy toward others knowingly or unknowingly I ask for forgiveness.
I ask that you heal and close every open wound in my heart that has taken place.
Fill my heart with the joy of the LORD, that there would be no room for the enemies lies!
Father, where the spirit of darkness has hovered over me to bring oppression in any way, shape, or form I reject it and command it to leave me now in Jesus name!
LORD I ask in agreement with Holy Spirit, that every open door to the enemy of my heart, be closed immediately in Jesus name!
LORD I ask that you release peace that only your can give in an abundant measure to my heart right now, in Jesus’ Name!
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful,” Colossians 3:15 NKJV.
I thank you LORD and ask that you cover me from the crown of my head to soles of my feet with the blood of Jesus!
I thank you for forgiveness and restoration they are my portion as your child!
I thank you and declare that I am forgiven and restored.
I declare my spiritual arteries in my heart are unclogged and healed by the blood of the lamb, Jesus Christ!
Help me LORD to be wise in this next season and to set a guard upon my heart always!
I declare that my heart is free and that my “True North” has been restored, in Jesus’ Name! Amen
Blessings and HIS abundant grace to you!
