Thy Word
Proverbs 2:1-9 “My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou cry after knowledge, and lift up thy voice for understanding; If thou seek her as silver, and search for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom: out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He lays up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keeps the paths of judgment, and preserves the way of his saints. Then shall you understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yes, every good path.”
When I look at these scriptures in Proverbs I saw something here today. If I want to find the Knowledge of God and learn about His ways I must first receive His words. That is the first thing we must do to to have understanding of God and to be able to walk in His ways. If we do not believe that God’s word is absolute, and that it is the final authority over all other truth in our life, we will never find the knowledge of God. I don’t know about you,but I really want to know Him. I want to know this God that is wiser than the wisest man that ever lived on the earth. I am amazed that He would offer even a speck of His awesome knowledge to us and yet He invites us to know Him. If we will just admit that we need His wisdom! Oh glory to God!
Some say that His wisdom is past understanding, but He has even given us His Spirit to be our teacher. Once we receive His word as final authority the Holy Spirit will come and teach us who He is!
1 Corinthians 2:9-12 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”
I have known people for thirty years that are still to this day confused about life, because they have never settled in their heart that the Word of God is final authority and absolute truth. If we never settle this in our hearts how will we know when Holy Spirit is speaking to us? You see it is He that takes the things of Jesus and shows them to us. These people are still in confusion about who God is in their life.
In my walk with the Lord I realized first and foremost that I was wretched and knew nothing. In some ways that may have been a plus in my life, because I realized that God was way smarter than I was and my need to understand His word. I went after the word with all of my heart! I ate the word. I slept the word. Then when I received Holy Spirit that word became alive in me! So after I received His word as the truth above all other truth. I inclined my ear to His wisdom. I then hid it in my heart. What that means is that I held onto it and I would ask the Lord to not allow what he had taught me to leave me. I applied my heart to know it. I cried after it as if it were a great treasure. I began to judge every other so called truth by it. I inclined my ear to tune in to His voice, because His voice will not contradict His word. After all He is His word!
Jesus talked about people who are rich and wise in this world. Not that it isn’t good to be educated, but at times it is hard for them to embrace the word as final authority because what they are doing is sort of working for them and they think they have no need of God in their life until they lose it all or have some sort of crisis in their life. That is why Jesus said in Matthew 5:3 “Blessed [are] the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” You see when we have nothing in this world we understand what a great treasure knowing God and His word really are. We see so many in this day and hour in high places of society who are taking drugs, committing suicide etc… Sometimes I just want to say . Oh yeah, how is that working for ya?
Now some may believe that it is foolish to receive every word as truth in the Bible, but I must be a foolish thing according to some, because I believe and receive this word as absolute. I believe it above all that I am seeing with my natural eyes, above all that our modern society says that is right or wrong, above what any scientist says. Why? Because God is not bound by this natural world He is a supernatural God that is not anything like our natural minds are limited to. No we need to really take a look at the word of God sometimes and just say Lord teach me who you are and what you can do in me and through me.. We may find out that He is more than our five physical senses can comprehend. That He is not a Man,but God! I don’t know about you, but I don’t want a God who is limited by mine or anyone else’s finite mine.
You might find out that he truly heals the sick when medicine and doctors can not or that he meets your needs according to His riches in Glory not according to my ability to make money. You might find out that He can feed the five thousand with a couple of fish and a bit of bread. That He can do anything as long as we will receive His word by faith! You might find out that He is able do to exceedingly, abundantly ,more than you can ask or think according to the power that works in us!! That as you receive His word by faith, hide it in your heart, incline your ear to it and apply it to your life that you will also Know Him and Know His voice and as David said be wiser than your teachers! Glory to God!!

Proverbs 4:20-22
King James Version (KJV)
20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
