Someone once quoted this to me and it struck such a note in my heart :

“For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, And My blessing on your offspring,” Isaiah 44:3.

The LORD seemed to wait for me to catch His train of thought.

Then it HIT me — this is our promise with regards to Revival.

It’s our promise, confirmed in Joel 2:28-29, of The Holy Spirit being poured out on us!

It was the promise, invoked in the blacksmiths prayer at Barva on the Isle of Lewis, that began the Hebridean Revival.

It must be part of our prayers every day until the promised move of God’s Holy Spirit and His Glory falls once again on us!

Let’s remind ourselves once more of that prayer — we need to pray this once again today:

“Oh God, you made a promise to pour water on the dry ground, and LORD — t’s not happening.”

The blacksmith paused again and then continued,

“Lord, I don’t know how the others here stand in your Presence;
I don’t know how these ministers stand, but LORD,
if I know anything about my own heart,
I stand before you as an empty vessel,
thirsting for thee and for a manifestation of Thy power.”

He halted again and after a moment of tense silence cried,

“Oh God your honor is at stake;
and I now challenge you to fulfill your covenant engagement
and do what you promised to do.”

It’s time for us to press in as never before.

It’s time for both Watchmen and Intercessors to travail before The LORD for His Glory and His Presence.

It’s time for us to be prepared to be totally swept up in His glorious presence as Holy Spirit comes,
perhaps as in the first Pentecost, as a flame settling on each of us – setting our hearts ablaze for Him and anointing us for the days ahead.
