This Is for All Who Have Lost Their Mothers
I know you may be yet grieving,
And hold some pain in your heart,
You may yet feel an amazement,
Because it was too soon for them to part.
Yes, there are times of loneliness, because you know that you can’t just pick up the phone to laugh and to talk.
The hours just gazing, sometimes in the air, because you yet listen for their voice.
You expect to see them smiling as you achieve different goals and accomplishments.
You often think to yourself and sometimes out loud, “Mom, I just wish you were still here!”
Nobody knows the many times you cried and hidden your sorrow, because some days it was really hard to face your tomorrows without them being there.
You listen to people tell you it will be alright, and in time, it will get better.
But they don’t understand you don’t want to forget your mother.
You don’t want her memory to fade, you just want to be able to make it through the day, when the pain is more intense, because of a favorite memory or thinking about something they said or did.
Today, I want to say you can truly celebrate your mother, because through you she can live on.
She lives on in your smile that is like her’s.
She lives on in the things she taught you growing up.
She lives on in her favorite recipes that you cook for your family.
She has left a legacy of memories in your life that you will pass down to your children, who will pass them down to their children.
Though she is physically gone, she is yet alive through the values, morals and strengths that you have accomplished through her wisdom, love and nurturing.
Even with those whose mothers may have had issues in their lives, and she may not have been all she needed to be as a mother, but even in her worst state, there were times when the gentleness and caring of a mother would come shining through to you.
I say, remember those times and know that your mother did love you.
Today, I say to those who have lost your mother, be strengthen, be encouraged and know that The LORD is there as a shoulder to lean on, He who has an ear that hears and a heart that feels your hurt.
He is there during the rough days when you don’t feel like getting up. When you don’t feel like putting on your happy face for people.
When you feel like the pain is unbearable, know He is there.
I’m praying for you and know God is there!
Her life will live on as a memory in your heart!
