They Turned From God and Did Not Even Know It!
When You Become a Spiritual Whore and a Spiritual Whoremonger and Don’t Even Know It!
According to the dictionary, an adulterer is some one who is a cheater; they are not loyal to one person that they made a covenant agreement with!
“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God,” James 4:4 KJV.
As I was meditating upon the LORD, God began to reveal to me that many in the Body of Christ have begun to break covenant relationship with the LORD and they don’t even recognize it!
You see, sin is like a viper; something that begins as an heart issue and it starts as one begins to look out and to lust after things that take the place of a true lover. And, that lover is the LORD.
Ezekiel spoke to Jerusalem, warning them how that they had become unfaithful to their spiritual husband.
God begin to remind them how he taken them in when they were nothing! And, how He had washed the blood off them, cleaned them up when they were in sin and gave them a holy cleansing and dressed them in the best clothing and gave them the best perfumes and yet they still continued to be unfaithful to him!
The LORD had done everything possible to remind Jerusalem of His love, dedication and loyalty to them but they still continued to walk after these other god’s that could not heal, could not talk or deliver them from their transgressions.
Ezekiel said, “But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, (meaning they were selfish) and playedst the harlot because of the fame, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was.”
Jerusalem did not have a conscious, it had been seared with a hot iron. Just like many in the body of Christ today who are not faithful to God and have broken covenant relationship with Him to get in bed with other lovers who had taken the place of God.
Jerusalem was not reluctant or shy about what they were doing; in fact Ezekiel said,
“thy garments thou didst take, and deckedst thy high places with divers colours, and playedst the harlot thereupon: the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so. Thou hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee…..
Meaning God had blessed them and they took the blessing God gave them and used them as their golden calf and images.
….. and madest to thyself images of men, and didst commit whoredom with them, And tookest thy broidered garments, and coveredst them: and thou hast set mine oil and mine incense before them. My meat also which I gave thee, fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed thee, thou hast even set it before them for a sweet savour: and thus it was, saith the LORD God.”
Ezekiel recognized like many in the Body of Christ who, when we are unfaithful to God, we will do just about anything to get what we want (by playing the prostitute or the harlot) because we are out of the will of God.
“And, this is why Jerusalem had taken the sons and their daughters, the sacred things of God to use for evil, whom they had borne unto the LORD, and had sacrificed them to be devoured by the enemy……
Just as many who are called to be leaders in the church have done when they fail to bring about correction and accountability in then body of Christ!
….. God asked them a question and demanded an answer: Is this of thy whoredoms a small matter that thou hast slain my children, and delivered them to cause them to pass through the fire for them?” Ezekiel 16:15-21.
Just as the hirling shepherds does the sheep; instead of caring, loving them you leave them for the wolves to devour.
The LORD is speaking clearly to His people to do a u-turn!
For He is saying, how can you dare to sell out your Holy vessels and your spiritual family for a little of nothing all for the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life?
How often have you provoked Him (Jehovah) in the wilderness, and grieved Him in the desert?
Yes, again and again you tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. And, you did not remember His power. . . . Yet you tested and provoked the Most High God, and did not keep His testimonies, but turned back and acted unfaithfully like your fathers.
Meaning, instead the fathers instructing the children, they taught them to be unfaithful to God as they had been. And, the children loved to have it so. Angering God even more!
Jerusalem, like so many in the body of Christ who are religious, did not want to be faithful to Jehovah, but craved and lusted to be like their wicked fathers and others who had chosen to be unfaithful to the LORD, who went whoring after other gods!
And, because of their unfaithfulness, they had become an enemy against God; instead of His friend, teaching a generation to follow in their evil foot steps!
Therefore, the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only. Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.
And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight, (2 Kings 17:18-20)
God is calling for genuine REPENTANCE!
It is a dangerous thing to be in the hands of an angry God!
