The Weak in the Faith – Pt 2.
The Weak in the Faith — Second in series of Study
Please consider the following verse with me:
Romans 14:21,
“It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.”
When one comes to deciding what is right or what is wrong, he must think farther than just what he/ she wants or enjoys, etc.
One must think of others and what the impact will have upon them and will it strengthen them or will it make them weak.
If something we as Christians do or allow, offends one who is weak in the faith, then that is a selfish decision.
This principal of conduct will eliminate selfishness, because one will think about the effect of what he/ she does upon others…. putting self second.
In the End Times the scriptures tell us in 2 Timothy 3 that men will be lovers of themselves.
In other words, men will be selfish putting themselves before others.
His is an earmark of the times….. Selfishness. If we love others then we must live to help others not hurt them.
Yet today we have so many just living to please themselves, and not worried or even concerned, about what someone else thinks about what they are doing.
The attitude today by many is: I will do what I want to do and if you don’t like it then you don’t have to like it!
I must go on and add more to think about here…
When considering what we do before others we must consider then what we allow others to do without warning them.
When a brother or sister sins and one does not warn them the scriptures tell us that their blood will be upon our hands.
If we remain silent when one who is weak makes foolish and selfish decisions [really committing sinful acts] then we still have sinned.
The results of a good man remaining silent with the weak man, is very important as well and one we must consider.
It is not enough to live before others always mindful of the effects of our actions done, but it is also necessary to help others by speaking to them concerning their weak decisions or actions.
If we do nothing when a weak brother or sisters acts before us… then we approve their actions.
If that weak brother or sister continues to act [to hurt others] many will be defiled or hurt!
It is therefore a very important decision to to both live and speak the truth, thus helping all people we meet.
But… let me warn you:
Be careful to know and understand: many will be offended at you for speaking to them. Just know that many people who are weak….
Detest and hate rebuke or instruction.
The fact is one who is spiritual must be spiritual in all actions else his/her spirituality will be rendered null and void.
Remember the teaching of Jesus that said: he that lives spiritual will be hated and persecuted.
Jesus went on to say that we should expect it, because if people remembered and kept track of all jesus said and did.. They would also keep track and record of what you say.
Persecution for speaking and acting right towards the weak is not a good reason to stop speaking or stop acting right.
No man lives to himself, and no man will die to himself.
This is a scriptural statement. What we do will either help or hurt others.
Scripture Added:
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away,” 2 Timothy 3:1-5.
Consider these Verses:
The Watchman’s Duty
“And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, speak to the sons of your people and say to them, ‘If I bring a sword upon a land, and the people of the land take one man from among them and make him their watchman, and he sees the sword coming upon the land and blows on the trumpet and warns the people, then he who hears the sound of the trumpet and does not take warning, and a sword comes and takes him away, his blood will be on his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet but did not take warning; his blood will be on himself. But had he taken warning, he would have delivered his life. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require from the watchman’s hand.’
Now as for you, son of man, I have appointed you a watchman for the house of Israel; so you will hear a message from My mouth and give them warning from Me. When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require from your hand. But if you on your part warn a wicked man to turn from his way and he does not turn from his way, he will die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your life.
Now as for you, son of man, say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus you have spoken, saying, “Surely our transgressions and our sins are upon us, and we are rotting away in them; how then can we survive?”’ Say to them, ‘As I live!’ declares the Lord God, ‘I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn back, turn back from your evil ways! Why then will you die, O house of Israel?’” Ezekiel 33:1-11.
