The War in Heaven
In Revelation 12 we read about the coming war in heaven, when the dragon [the devil] and his angels will be cast out of heaven upon the earth having been defeated by Michael and his Army of Angels.
When this happens, the devil will go out in great power, because he will then know his time is short.
It is noteworthy that this War in Heaven is positioned in Scripture to happen in the middle of the 7-year tribulation time.
“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his Angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his Angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the devil, and satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, ‘Now is come Salvation, and strength, and The Kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our god day and night,’ “ Revelation 12:7-10.
A careful study of The Book of Daniel will reveal the Antichrist and his coming. It indicates that he will [during the first half of the 7-year Tribulation] be more of a peaceful and boastful and smart political leader, who will have considerable power and plans to cause a peace plan, to be accepted by Israel.
He will effectively, finally, appear to have a solid solution to peace between Israel and the Palestinians. The Antichrist will cause a ‘Covenant of Peace’ to come about during this time of the first two and one half years of the Tribulation.
It must be noted that many have in the past tried to have a successful plan of peace. Until this time, there has been only fighting and unrest in Israel; no proposed peace has ever succeed.
This peace time will cause all the world to set up and take notice of this man.
“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate,” Daniel 9:27.
It is noted that suddenly, the person of that ‘Peace Plan’ will change, and actually go into The Temple in Jerusalem and cause the sacrifices to cease, which shall make his ‘peace deal’ desolate and the work of The Temple.
He will then set up a idol of himself in The Temple and cause all men to worship him as god.
Why the sudden change in this Antichrist person, from a peaceful politician to a vain and forceful man?
The answer is that the devil will be cast upon the earth suddenly, and then he will give his power to the Antichrist who will become a man full of the same evil as in the beast.
The whole world will see this power, and will be threatened by it [the Antichrist] because they will be forced to worship the Antichrist.
Many have overlooked this War in Heaven. This is a very important event, because, The Word of God says the power of the beast will be given unto the Antichrist, and this coincides with the War in Heaven!
The latter half of the Tribulation is none other then the pouring out of The Wrath of God upon all the ungodly, because of the beast’s power and presence.
Note: Jesus warned his disciples [the foundation of the Church he came to establish in The New Covenant] that they were to look for this terrible act of sacrilege in the temple, mentioned by Daniel the prophet.
Jesus told them that when they saw this happen, they should flee into the mountains [desert or wilderness] to hide, because the wrath of the Antichrist was going to be very bad.
Many bible teachers have taught that The Church would be taken out of the world before the Tribulation begins, but Jesus said that they would be in the middle of the Tribulation.
The scriptures also teach that God has not appointed His People to wrath, which would be in the middle of the Tribulation.
“For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our LORD Jesus Christ,” 1 Thessalonians 5:9.
A careful study of The Book of Revelation does then determine exactly when The Wrath of God will be poured out. [ See Revelation 16 for bowls of wrath…] when one discovers that the writings say the bowls of wrath were poured out after the mid point of the Tribulation, then we see and understand that The Church of Jesus will be in the middle, and have been promised to be saved from what was to come at that time.
Conclusion:
There will be a War in Heaven, at the mid point of the Tribulation and at the mid point the Antichrist will be empowered, and in this we understand the Beast will be plainly seen before men, because he will be cast upon the earth.
The Beast will give his power fully… In the mid point of the Tribulation, which will cause God to pour out His Wrath in the last half of the week.
It is plain then: this study is important to position the middle of the Tribulation and that at that time there will be a War in Heaven and the devil [Beast] will be present to threaten The Church which Jesus warned His Disciples to watch for to be coming.
The pure fact of this positioning, refutes the man-made idea that The Church will be taken out before that time in a pre-tribulation “Rapture“, placing The Church in the middle of the Tribulation.
The question then must be: How will The LORD fulfill His Promise to give “Salvation” to His People from the wrath?
Will there be a mid-term “Rapture” or will there be another way The LORD will save His People?
If…. there were going to be a ‘Rapture’, Jesus would have told His Disciples to “Look up” for deliverance [that they would be taken up and away], ………. But instead, He said, “Flee to the mountains and hide!”
