The War Cry!
William Booth (1829-1912) spoke well to his generation when he named his first newspaper ‘The War Cry’ — a name still used today and first published December 1879.
Little did he know how prophetically he was aligning himself with today’s Prayer Warriors, or Intercessors.
There is a War Cry going up from heaven today which echoes the great prayers of many who are long gone but none of whom are forgotten.
John Knox, Martin Luther, Isaac Watts, Jonathan Edwards, George Whitfield, the Wesley’s, Lanphier, Moody, Booth himself, Robert’s, Seymour, and many others — the list is very long.
Their War Cries echo down through the generations to help us, encourage us, and inspire us.
The War Cry today, or at least just one of them, is for Holiness that leads to Revival.
“ Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a right and steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit.” Psalm 51:10-12 AMP.
Keith Green sang a wonderful song based on these words.
There is a renewed Cry coming from heaven today, which calls us to pray these simple words as a Declaration of our intent to Honour God and to Honour His Revival.
We need to be Holy — at least holier than we are now — in order to show God that we mean it when we sing about sending Revival, and especially when we speak and pray about being willing to pay the price of Revival.
The force and power of the coming Revival — the cusp of which we are most definitely on — is reliant to a great extent upon our prayers and commitment expressed through the War Cry we send up for The LORD to move by His Holy Spirit.
Remember, The LORD looks at our hearts as well as listening to our prayers.
He isn’t deceived by our words — He examines our motives and our intentions too.
If we don’t mean it — He won’t send it — at least no to the extent that we say we want.
The LORD is listening for our War Cries today and every day.
He honours our hearts’ desires that align with His.
The Holy Spirit hovers over the world once again (Genesis 1:2) His response this time depends on us as much as it depends on The Will of The Father.
It’s time for us to send up our War Cries today.
How desperate really are we?
I think we’re willing, and God is always ready to answer our cries.
Let’s send up a War Cry that He cannot ignore!
Posted in excited hope and expectation!!
Postscript
A War Cry for Holiness and Revival is one thing.
A War Cry for the world against all the evil is entirely another!
~ Chris G. Bennett
Chris Bennett came to salvation in 1962 but didn’t begin ministry until 2007 — a late-comer! Now mandated by The LORD to prophesy and open old wells of revival in the U.K., but especially in Wales. He has also operated Healing Rooms, and worked with deliverance teams, all with his wife, Linda. Happily now doing whatever The LORD asks of them! Founder, with wife Linda, of their ministry The Upper Room Encounter.
Wow! I have been listening to Keith Green on repeat for 6 weeks! Although my mother and father grew up with his music, I’m younger and a bit more new to it. But so often, during prayer and intercession lately the same verse continually comes pouring out and I begin singing that song! Thank you for sharing and for the encouragement.
Brother Chris, you never forget reminding us to our strongest forefathers. Thank you for that ! About the attached song: Always loved that song, sang it often with fervor and joy. The word WAR stands out these days in media, but here at HKP too. Some wars we fight in silence, in Spirit, on the knees or at any other place. You never gave up on hoping for a revival. GOD speaks in numerable, uncountable ways, but very clear also through His punishments and judgements. Mostly after wars or through desasters the people became humbly and learned the Fear of the LORD.
