The Voice Of The Assurance
When the disciples were in a boat on the sea of Galilee, a storm suddenly rose up and the boat was taking on water because of the wind and the waves.
At that time while the wind was contrary to their efforts to row to the other side of the sea, Jesus began walking on the water toward the boat.
When the disciples saw Him, they cried out in fear shouting. “It’s a ghost!”
But Jesus answered them by saying, “It is I, do not be afraid.”
Peter shouted out to Him saying; “If it’s you Lord, bid me to come out to you.” (You need to remember the wind and the waves were very turbulent while this was happening.)
Jesus said to Peter, “Come.”
Then Peter stepped out of the boat and walked out toward Jesus. And he began to sink when he started considering the wind and the waves.
He took his focus off the One Who called him.
Jesus said: “Why did you doubt?”
Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, it is the evidence of things not seen. Jesus, being the Author and Finisher of our faith, is what I consider: “The Assurance of things hoped for. He is the evidence of things not seen.”
The embodiment of Assurance was standing right in front of Peter. The embodiment of Assurance was also STANDING on the Water right in front of Peter.
And The Voice Of The Assurance called him forth to Himself.
What about you? Is the embodiment of the assurance of things hoped for standing right in front of you while your focus is way off somewhere?
Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full into His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the Light of His Glory and Grace.
