The Turkey Vulture Brigade
The Lord gave me a vision of what looked like a man with a weird ruffled piece of skin sort of like chicken skin, on the upper lip resembling a turkey… wrinkled extra skin. Which seemed it would make it difficult to talk.
Then He told me to look up Turkey Vulture.
Wikipedia: “The Turkey Vulture, Cathartes aura, also known in North America as the Turkey Buzzard (or just “buzzard”), is a bird found throughout most of the Americas. One of three species in the genus Cathartes, in the family Cathartidae, it is the most widespread of the New World vultures, ranging from southern Canada to the southernmost tip of South America.
…. The Turkey Vulture is a scavenger and feeds almost exclusively on carrion. It finds its meals using its sense of smell, flying low enough to detect the gases produced by the beginnings of the process of decay in dead animals. Lacking a syrinx — the vocal organ of birds — its only vocalizations are grunts or low hisses. It usually hisses when it feels threatened. Grunts are commonly heard from hungry young and from adults in their courtship display.
It nests in caves, hollow trees, or thickets, each year generally raising two chicks, which it feeds by regurgitation. It has very few natural predators. In the United States of America, the vulture receives legal protection under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. The Turkey Vulture may live as long as 21 years in captivity, with the oldest wild captured banded bird being 16 years old. …
The Turkey Vulture received its common name from the resemblance of the adult’s bald red head and its dark plumage to that of the male Wild Turkey, while the name “vulture” is derived from the Latin word vulturus, meaning “tearer,” and is a reference to its feeding habits. Several hundred vultures may roost communally in groups which sometimes even include Black Vultures. It roosts on dead, leafless trees; though it nests in caves, it does not enter them except during the breeding season. The Turkey Vulture lowers its night-time body temperature by about 6 °C (11 °F) to 34 °C (93 °F), becoming slightly hypothermic.
The Turkey Vulture has few natural predators. Its primary form of defense is regurgitating semi-digested meat, a foul-smelling substance which deters most creatures intent on raiding a vulture nest. It will also sting if the predator is close enough to get the vomit in its face or eyes. In some cases, the vulture must rid its crop of a heavy, undigested meal in order to take flight to flee from a potential predator.
The Turkey Vulture feeds primarily on a wide variety of carrion, from small mammals to large grazers, preferring those recently dead, and avoiding carcasses that have reached the point of putrefaction. It may rarely feed on plant matter, shoreline vegetation, pumpkin and other crops, live insects and other invertebrates. It rarely, if ever, kills prey itself. The Turkey Vulture can often be seen along roadsides feeding on roadkill, or near bodies of water, feeding on washed-up fish. It also will feed on fish or insects which have become stranded in shallow water. Like other vultures, it plays an important role in the ecosystem by disposing of carrion which would otherwise be a breeding ground for disease.
The Turkey Vulture forages by smell, an ability that is uncommon in the avian world. It often will fly low to the ground to pick up the scent of ethyl mercaptan, a gas produced by the beginnings of decay in dead animals. The olfactory lobe of its brain, responsible for processing smells, is particularly large compared to that of other animals. This heightened ability to detect odors allows it to search for carrion below the forest canopy. King Vultures and Black Vultures, which lack the ability to smell carrion, follow the Turkey Vulture to carcasses. The Turkey Vulture arrives first at the carcass, or with Greater Yellow-headed Vultures or Lesser Yellow-headed Vultures, which also share the ability to smell carrion. It displaces the Yellow-headed Vultures from carcasses due to its larger size, but is displaced in turn by the King Vulture, which makes the first cut into the skin of the dead animal. This allows the smaller, weaker-billed, Turkey Vulture access to food, because it cannot tear the tough hides of larger animals on its own. This is an example of mutual dependence between species.”
In The Final Quest by Rick Joyner, he describes spirits of depression as looking like vultures, vomiting out gunk on people. And in fact Turkey vultures do this to defend themselves in the natural, regurgitating food with a unique chemical that stings. In the natural they only choose recently dead Victims. This made me think that just like depression, it moves in at a weak Moment when you feel guilty or condemned, and swoops in to dump it’s load of vomit on us, to bring heaviness that lingers unless confronted.
“! am like a melancholy pelican or vulture of the wilderness; I am like a [desolate] owl of the waste places” Psalm 102:6 AMP.
“It roosts on dead, leafless trees;” Made me think of Ezekiel 47 where He speaks of the stagnant bodies of water which represent the dead church. Those not moving in the leading and power of the Holy Spirit. So this spirit resides in dead churches, and since men are likened to trees in Isaiah 61, dead men. Those not moving and having their being in Christ, though they may SAY they do.
Unlike other birds it has ability to detect prey by smell of the ROTTING FLESH of the victim. You could say, “it smells death”. There was a photo recently of one vulture in Africa just standing near a starving child, waiting.
It’s body becoming cold at night reminds me of cold love, or being cold blooded – Murderous in other words.
So waiting until the Lord would tell me what He wants to say about this, I was going through some attack of this kind of spirit of discouragement, and the enemy trying to bring up bitterness, or depressing thoughts, thoughts of worthlessness, etc. anger, all kinds of junk to try to get me to think on negative things.
I heard then the Lord speak tonight:
“SET THE trumpet to your lips! [The enemy] comes as a [great] vulture against the house of the Lord, because they have broken My covenant and transgressed against My law. 2 Then they will cry to Me, My God, we [of Israel] know You! 3 Israel has rejected the good [with loathing]; the enemy shall pursue him. 4 They set up kings, but not from Me [therefore without My blessing]; they have made princes or removed them [without consulting Me; therefore], I knew and recognized [them] not. With their silver and their gold they made idols for themselves, that they [the silver and the gold] may be destroyed. 5 Your calf [idol], O Samaria, is loathsome and I have spurned it. My wrath burns against them. How long will it be before they attain purity? 6 For this [calf] too is from Israel; a craftsman made it; therefore it is not God. The calf of Samaria shall be broken to shivers and go up in flames. 7 For they sow the wind and they shall reap the whirlwind. The standing grain has no heads; it shall yield no meal; if it were to yield, strangers and aliens would eat it up” Hosea 8:1-7 AMP
“My heritage is to Me like a speckled vulture; The vultures all around are against her. Come, assemble all the beasts of the field, Bring them to devour! 10 “Many rulers have destroyed My vineyard, They have trodden My portion underfoot; They have made My pleasant portion a desolate wilderness. 11 They have made it desolate; Desolate, it mourns to Me; The whole land is made desolate, because no one takes it to heart. 12 The plunderers have come on all the desolate heights in the wilderness, For the sword of the Lord shall devour From one end of the land to the other end of the land; No flesh shall have peace” Jeremiah 12:9-12 NKJV.
“These are days of glory and days of peril. These are days of pruning, and days of tuning. These are days of destruction for the wicked and days of restoration for MY people. Just as Job suffered much loss, yet was in the end rewarded double, so it shall be with MY PEOPLE, and all who will come in this hour of trials and trembling upon the earth. Just as in the beginning I divided the continents through earthquakes after the flood, so there will be earthquakes now. The earth will open to help you in a time of great darkness, I said [Revelation 12].
The enemy knows his time is very short, and he has launched all out assault on all who are called by My name. Do not feel alone in the midst of the fray, for you are NEVER alone when I LIVE IN YOU! Selah!
Part of his assault has been vulture spirits sent out to vomit out garbage and mental affliction on you. The accuser has stirred to bring division and discord, but at the same time I am using it to PRUNE, just as I did with JOB. So, be careful about the “taking of sides”. Know that I LOVE all mankind, every life is precious to me. But I have favorites, and those are all who say yes to My Son, and who bow down to HIS name.
I am testing and testing you, to bring you into ALIGNMENT with My PLUMBLINE. I want a holy, spotless bride. I am not unjust or a “killjoy”. I want you SAFE in My arms – ALWAYS ! So I am rebuking where I need to rebuke, I am not scoffing or chiding, for I am sympathetic to your needs. I want healing and deliverance for My body. I am looking for the one who is truly desperate enough to seek ME FIRST. I love seekers. I will reward those who DILIGENTLY seek ME. For I AM the LOVER of your soul. SPEAK THE WORD back to the vultures, and counter every evil thought – take it captive to JESUS. Speak that you have the MIND OF CHRIST. Put on the helmet of the hope of salvation!
NOTHING can take that love away. Failures are stepping stones to freedom and overcoming if you will look at them the way I do. Peter failed more than once. Thomas failed in faith as well, yet he was later used mightily, even against his will, in going to INDIA, a very hard place to go. I love failures. Do you know why? It is because they come to realize it is not about them. They come to realize that apart from ME, they can do nothing RIGHTEOUS!
It is My grace that saved you, when you were dead in your sins, and it is MY grace which shall preserve you till My Son returns again. It is MY GRACE that will sustain you through many trials and tribulations. It is MY grace to open your eyes to your own blindness. I know the depths of your heart more than anyone. I know the weaknesses, the sin, the failures, the doubts, the PAIN. A good Father corrects His children. How will you overcome the vultures if you do not have the strength of My love living in you ?
Obedience is better than sacrifice My Word says. I don’t need burnt offerings anymore . I don’t need your money. I need your obedience, so that MY will can be lived out in your life, and so that you will have an abundance of My LOVE and power to sustain you through these times. I have a great HARVEST in mind. The enemy seeks to keep you from it. He wants you to feel unworthy and get you into sin to keep you from the fullness of the call on your life. DO NOT LISTEN to condemnation that he sends. My conviction brings with it HOPE and My love will never be taken from you. I AM NOT a harsh taskmaster. My judgment is always My LOVE provoked to jealousy, to get you to turn away from sin, and come into MY arms of love for the healing, deliverance and blessings I want for you.”
