The Tears of Our Nation
The Tears of Our Nation
The tears of our nation are shed in grief;
The murder of innocence shattered the peace.
Precious blood poured out onto the ground
The people are crying; what a mournful sound.
The heart of our nation is revealed in her people;
Our symbol of courage forever the eagle.
Unyielding we stand against the darkness
Giving no quarter to those who are heartless.
The soul of our nation yearns for restoration,
For the spirit of brotherhood’s rejuvenation.
Every man a brother, every neighbor a friend,
Resolving our differences with an amiable end.
The prayers of our nation resound in the land.
Comfort the hurting; encourage every man.
Tho’ evil has struck a deadly blow
It shall not prevail, for this we do know.
We appeal to heaven to guide our way.
A murderous heart can’t be legislated away.
True peace and safety are rooted in love.
The Love of Christ from the Father above.
Let the tears of our nation wash us in prayer;
Let the heart of our nation never be in despair.
Let the soul of our nation burn with a fiery light;
For in God we do trust through this dark night.
