The Spirit of Depression
The Spirit of Depression (Heaviness)
“Arise [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you—rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of The LORD), for your light has come, and the glory of The LORD has risen upon you!” Isaiah 60:1 AMPC
In despair, David cried out to The LORD saying,
“How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?” Psalm 13:1-2
Jeremiah cried out in prayer after he was beaten by a priest of Israel for boldly declaring the word of The LORD:
“Cursed be the day on which I was born! The day when my mother bore me, let it not be blessed! … Why did I come out from the womb to see toil and sorrow, and spend my days in shame?” Jeremiah 20:14,18
“ “In despair over the coming judgment Jeremiah said, “My joy is gone; grief is upon me; my heart is sick within me.” Jeremiah 8:18
Feeling depressed sometimes signals sorrow over something. and sorrow, deep grief, and yes — depression over wickedness, sin, suffering, and death — is often fitting. We are human!
Solomon wrote,
“It is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting, for this is the end of all mankind, and the living will lay it to heart. Sorrow is better than laughter, for by sadness of face the heart is made glad.” Ecclesiastes 7:2-3
Call out to God, who “is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble,” (Psalm 64:1).
In Psalm 42 David said — “My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me all the day long, “Where is your God?” ”
Then he remembered, saying, “These things I remember, as I pour out my soul: how I would go with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God with glad shouts and songs of praise, a multitude keeping festival. My soul is cast down within me; therefore I remember you ”
Then he preached to himself, saying, “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.”
Depression can also come from years of stuffing down anger at ourselves for making mistakes, or not being good enough in the eyes of our parents, or other important people in our lives.
One could say depression is anger directed inward, instead of outward.
It brings with it self pity and isolation and distrust. Distrust because something happened to us that violated normal standards of behavior, like rejection, cruelty, perfectionism, cold love, abuse or neglect. It can also be a generational spirit.
What is the opposite of self pity? Murmuring and complaining and blaming others? No, it is Gratitude…
We all have been tempted when things get difficult to start complaining, and moaning and blaming God for not taking us out of the situation we are in.
We need to repent of blaming God, hold on to the guarantee of the Finished Work, and resist the devil. They will most definitely flee from us. We need to take every thought captive.”
Paul in Acts 16, was thrown in prison for delivering a girl from a spirit of divination. If he had been like most of us today, he would have been asking,
“How could this have happened to us? Get us out of here! We must have messed up somewhere. God must be mad at us!”
What were they doing? Singing, Praising and Rejoicing.
The Bible is clear, that the spirit of heaviness is connected to depression, and depression is a spirit, and the root cause of depression is sometimes a dysfunctional connection with God, through a misunderstand of His word.
“To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of The LORD, that he might be glorified.” Isaiah 61:3
Mental turmoil — confusion, agitation, disquiet, is usually caused by emotional buildup (things never let go of) and it usually brings fear.
Fear does not come from God.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7
To defeat this oppression, we need to be grateful to Jesus Christ that we are saved. Rejoice! Thank Him for your health! Thank Him, Thank Him and Thank Him again and again.
Focus on all the good things in your life,
“All good things come from above!” James 1:17
The more we thank Him the less we will be in self pity or murmuring, and we must kill all self pity, if we want to escape oppression, because self pity attracts other spirits to lead you into a downward spiral emotionally, but in ALL things, give thanks.
“In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you!” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
As Christians we sometimes have a very tough time doing this, but this is the Biblical way of getting free from depression, and getting the dark clouds to roll away and the the sun shine on our lives again.
So put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness (Isaiah 61).
I’m reminded of one of the names of Jesus is “A Morning without Clouds.” See beautiful video by Eric Ludy of God’s names:
“For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from The LORD,” James 1:7
Hope from the word of God, provides a confident expectation of good things, and to always be thankful. (Philippians 4:6)
Our hearts can be down cast. This spirit brings a “heaviness” over us, it robs our hope. It brings a heavy, oppressive feeling. It tries to steal our Faith.
Depression tries to overcome us like a dark, heavy cloud. When is hanging over us, it may come over us at once, like a dark cloud.
It can causes us to isolate, and it tries to steal our love, joy, and peace, and wants to make us feel alone, and it tries to steal our relationship with God.
However, in all things related to depression, it is putting on the garment of praise that can bring us out of depression.
I’m going to share another source of depression which is Jezebelic, witchcraft, divination or sorcery attacks coming from the words or incantations and curses of others oppressed by these spirits.
That’s why it often just comes on you like a dark cloud suddenly overshadowing you.
In which case you must Worship also, because Worship destroys witchcraft. Even if all you can do is offer a Sacrifice of Praise, meaning you don’t feel like it, but you do it anyway because God is Worthy of all praise. And He will fight for you!
“Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice!” Psalm 141:2 ESV
“Let them thank The LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of his deeds in songs of joy!” Psalm 107:21-22 ESV
“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken andcontrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” Psalm 51:17 ESV
“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16 ESV
The enemy hates us praising God! The enemy hates us being happy or joyful, peaceful or feeling loved. The Joy of The LORD is our Strength, The Word says.
So why do I emphasize this so much?
Well when I came to The LORD I was DID/MPD because of having been abused as a child, with a very mixed up childhood.
The abuse was from OTO Freemasons, which my grandfather and stepfather participated with. So not being healed yet, I had a lot of depression.
Before being Christian, I would put on Bob Dylan music and cry, and get over the feelings. My ex-husband now, at the time also had grown up in an abusive family.
But as I continued to press in to read The Bible daily, and Worship which I loved, as even in Catholic School as a kid (2nd-8th grade), I loved worshiping God with the hymns.
Some of the fogginess lifted. But it took a long time to overcome all this, especially with Churches that did not understand or know how to help.
And actually I didn’t even know about what happened, except by a revelation from The LORD when I was married to my husband.
There was a day early on in my walk where I woke up feeling depressed. So I went into the living room while the kids were at school, and I sat on the floor near the speakers near the tape player.
And I had learned, to “Put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.” So I put on one of my favorite songs by Steve Camp.
The plastic jacket to the tape was on the speaker close but not near my person. As I began to sing, suddenly that small jacket to the tape flew off the speaker!
So then I knew it was a demon tormenting me, and I continued singing after laughing at it’s frustration.
This is why I’m not keen on labeling everything as from “chemical imbalance”. Although that IS also a reason for some depressions.
Years ago I read the story in the front of a book on herbs about a young man who grew up on a farm, and when older he moved into the city.
Well, he kept eating at restaurants and prepared foods from the store, and he got more and more depressed.
I can’t remember who suggested he go back to eating like he used to on the farm, but it worked! He came out of the depression!
So you can see there are many reasons, and another big one is drugs being produced today in great numbers for ADHD etc. along with drug addiction and many other things, can affect your brain causing imbalances.
GMO foods can cause imbalance and immune distress. Heavy metals in your foods can cause imbalance, sensitivities and heaviness from the sorcery.
Freemasons I was told once, and no I cannot corroborate this, but allegedly dip a hand into a container of mercury to pull out their ring for the 33rd Level.
Mercury is the most poisonous metal and evaporates readily. But those at that level are already sorcerers. Demons can protect such from harm to them, for the purpose of deception.
Yvonne Kitchen from Australia might have been the one who said this but can’t remember. When she speaks at conferences, she’ll says, “No more Mercury poisoning!”
Mercury also being a god they worship among many others. Thus we come to another reason for depression related to demons, which is free masonry in the family line.
If anyone in your family has participated in this even just to the first 3 Levels, it means he has caused a curse on his own family to serve Satan for the rest of their lives.
You must seek help in the Church to get free, preferably with someone with experience.
Here is an excellent video to help you understand and take action.

“Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and. Glorify His name. Do not forget or neglect to do kindness and good, to be generous anddistribute and contribute to the needy [of the church as embodiment andproof of fellowship], for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” Hebrews 13:15-16 AMPC

Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk, for I lift up my inner self to You.” Psalm 143:7-8 AMPC

Prayer:
Father,
I lift up to You anyone struggling with the spirit of heaviness, and I pray You will surround them with songs of deliverance!
Let them hear Your Voice behind them as Your Word says, directing them and helping them to know You love them immensely.
I pray You would rout the spirit of heaviness from their lives, and all others associated with it.
I rebuke all self-pity, self hatred, self-loathing, self condemnation and guilt in the name and blood of Jesus.
I rebuke all witchcraft, divination, sorcery or Jezebel spirits trying to torment them and keeping them bound.
I ask for Your Holy Spirit to speak to them.
Open their ears from oppression of any deaf and dumb spirits trying to keep them from understanding or bound in isolation, condemning them.
I bind all unbelief, doubt and skepticism that God will not come through for them.
Grant them the Grace to Worship You in a Spirit of Truth and Holiness, and demonstrate Your mighty Power to them.
Pour Your Love that casts down all fear, and routs the enemy from their lives Abba.
In the Name and by The Blood of Jesus!
