The Rod of the Wicked
“For The Rod of the Wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.” Psalm 125:3 KJV emphasis added.
“For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land allotted to the righteous, lest the righteous reach out their hands to iniquity.” Psalm 125:3 NKJV.
The enemy uses what I call “The Rod of the Wicked” to accomplish his mission over the body of Christ.
And it is not a physical rod — it is a strategy.
What is a strategy?
Google gives me two definitions to this term.
1. A plan of action designed to achieve a long-term or overall aim.
2. The art of planning and directing overall military operations and movements in a war or battle.
In hermeneutics, I was taught to be more ‘literal minded’ to scriptures’ and assign literal meaning to the most part.
They say the scriptures have to be applied literally’ and would only assign prophetic meaning to Books like Revelation and Daniel, otherwise most other things remain literal.
My understanding is verses, chapters and general themes have prophetic layers onto what is viewed literal.
The Bible is a volume of inserted pictures. And so going deeper, you see The Rod of the Wicked not being a literal rod — but a strategy.
Where is The Rod of the Wicked mentioned in The Bible?
“For The Rod of the Wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.” Psalm 125:3 emphasis added.
Did you see it is not just a rod? It is a system that plans and executes.
One of the mysteries of The Rod of the Wicked, is that it pushes the righteous to sin. The enemy doesn’t hit you just because he swings a rod, not at all.
He shepherds you, by placing The Rod of the Wicked over you to lead you into the places of final destruction.
God spoke to me and said, “Remember The Cloud of Glory that rested upon the children of Israel….”
The cloud was to provide warmth and leadership. (Exodus 13:20-22,14:19-20,14:24,40:35-38)
The Rod of the Wicked is a counterfeit system designed to rest upon God’s people, just as Psalm 125:3 states,
“to rest upon the righteous so that the righteous may defile themselves by putting their hands into iniquity.”
David said, Psalm 23:4,
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
Now Hebrew pictures introduces two separate instruments that a shepherd might use in his daily errands over the flock.
I view The Rod as that which David used to shepherd the sheep away to the direction he wanted them to go.
With The Rod in his hand, the sheep hurriedly moved to the direction he signaled them.
I have been a shepherd, so I know what tendering the flock without the navigating Rod meant. It caused confusion and frustrations in attempts to move the flock.
Sometimes the stubborn sheep may all of asudden deviate to unwanted paths. I corrected the habit of stubborn sheep using The Rod in my hand.
I also think that should a serpent come to swallow my sheep, I wouldn’t put my Rod down to flee from it. I would strike and protect the sheep. They are mine!
Thus The Rod is also an instrument of leadership, comfort and protection.
David found comfort in believing that God would both protect and guide him, while even correcting him for his ultimate good.
You already begin to see how Satan counterfeits The Rod to lead you a stray.
David knew the original Rod, so it wasn’t difficult for him to write about the counterfeit rod: The Rod of the Wicked.
Let me expose the enemy before we see the working of this Rod.
The Rod of the Wicked is a secret, long-term strategy of the enemy to isolate and then eliminate you behind, through sin .
The Rod of the Wicked opens the sin gate.
The wicked set their trap to rope you in. They won’t let you know you are being fattened for destroying.
They conceal their plans to their advantage. They use ‘red herrings‘ to lure you to the gallows.
“If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god. Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart. Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter” Psalm 44:20-22.
What is said here is, The Sheep don’t know they are led away to be slaughtered.
But this is only after the sheep of Christ stretched their hands to foreign gods!
The Rod of the Wicked rested upon them, to train their hands to do iniquity.
Remember Israel never had gods of her own. They welcomed the nations into their lot, who later introduced The Rod of the Wicked upon them.

Prophet Peter Odhiambo of Heart Revival Network International, Kenya is a Prophetic End-Time Minister of the Gospel, preaching in Crusades and open air Revival meetings. The LORD continues to show him the apostasy in the Church and the need to prepare the Bride, fit for the Wedding of the Lamb, as in Revelation 19:7-8.
This is the strategy the enemy uses on many of us Christians everyday, weeks, months, years without us knowing where it started from & when it would come to an end. May God protect us all. Thank you prophet for sharing.
“Yea, for thy sake are we killed […] But this is only after the sheep of Christ stretched their hands to foreign gods!” ???
→ Romans 8:35-37:
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
As it is written,
For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
