The Purpose of the Wilderness
The scriptures tell us of men who were used tremendously by God in many different ways, that brought His name glory.
Moses, being one such powerfully used prophet though born Hebrew, grew up in the house of Pharaoh by grand design. We read in the book of Exodus 1:15-16, 22 of Pharaoh’s decree that every male child born in the land to was be destroyed, but Adonai had a purpose and plan for the life of Moses.
When his mother could hide him as an infant no longer, she got him a wicker basket and covered it over with tar and pitch. Then she put the child into it and set it among the reeds by the bank of the Nile where he was found by the daughter of Pharaoh who raised him as her own (Exodus 1-10).
At the court of Pharaoh, Moses received the highest civil and military training. This monarch had determined to make his adopted grandson his successor on the throne, and so Moses was trained up highly. (“And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.” Acts 7:22).
Yet we know that man’s ways are not God’s ways. Moses killed an Egyptian and had fallen in error, doing things his own way and not the Father’s. Though the time of the Israelite’s deliverance was nigh, but it would not be accomplished by emotions and armed force but divine intervention.
Moses, though with intellectual greatness which distinguished him above the many great men,an historian, poet, philosopher, general of armies, and legislator still had to go through His forty (40) years of PREPARATION both in Egypt and even in the desert.
Having fled Egypt in disgrace, turning from a Prince of Egypt, becoming a fugitive and a pauper, so He could be taught Adonai’s ways, to know His voice, take instructions and become His humble and submissive servant.
Your forty (40) years or forty (40) months wilderness experience was only that you could unlearn some things that were in you from birth, growing up, or you had become familiar with by wrong association, bad habits even attitudes.
The journey through the wilderness would have you face even chastisement, for whom the Father loves, He chastens (Hebrews 12:6, Proverbs 3:12) but only so He could humble you; cause you to sit at His feet and LEARN and be TAUGHT of HIM.
Yes, that seemingly long probationary period of immense testing and trial was preparing you for the manifestation of the greatness inside you to be used mightily of The Holy One so even now your family and generations will be delivered through you.
Embrace the journey!
