The Purpose of Teaching
“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also,” 2 Timothy 2:2.
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,” Ephesians 4:11.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work,” 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
The purpose of a teacher is to make themselves redundant: to teach the basics and then how to build on these so they can tell others the basics of what they learned.
Any teacher who has students still relying on them after they finish the course has failed as a teacher.
Any preacher who does not teach or preach a subject that leaves the recipient with a basic knowledge of what they taught as well as how to build on it has failed.
