The Price of the Heavenly Calling
A Doctor must go to College and Study for many years…..
A Lawyer must go to College and Study Law for many years….
A Engineer must go to College and Study math for many years….
A Famous Pianist must practice for years to enhance his ability….
and son on….
The World looks upon these People as of Great Achievement and talent, learned People and well received.
The World sets their salary high, and the cost of their Services are very expensive. Nobody thinks twice when it comes to paying for their services. They are honored and put up high before men.
But a Man called to Preach the Word of God can Study, Pray and Work all his life to try to make himself approved unto God, and it is only his reasonable service.
He can and does walk down a long road of difficulty because the World will never encourage him, nor recognize him as one deserving their respect and support.
Most Preachers of the Word receives very little pay, they are mostly rejected by Men and considered outcast because of the nature of his message. Laughed at and scorned, and placed over there to the shame of the community.
If a man does go into the Ministry, he will hear, “Oh, why do you want to do that, didn’t you know a Preacher is the least paid profession on Earth?”
I have heard it…. It is true…. most Preachers live and die without a house to live in and no retirement.
They are always filing a Income Statement as one who is below the poverty level.
A real Man of God must learn to live with it, knowing it will not be easy.
Most Pastors with a family while serving, do not receive enough money to dress their family in proper clothing.
Most all Preachers and Ministers have to prepare to Suffer, loss of all things.
The Man of God will watch the Wicked Prosper, while they budget to get by.
Why is ti so?
Because the Greatest Calling in this World is to Preach the Glorious Gospel of the Grace of God!
Yet it is most despised of all professions, and least paid for.
Most people think a Preacher lives on air, or some mystical provisions, as manna falling out of the sky. Or, maybe he has a money tree in his backyard?
After [We who know The LORD knows] a Preacher is a Spokesman for the King of kings and LORD of lords.
The Preacher is an Ambassador, sent by the King, but the world does not see him, or respect his office.
If the Preacher dresses up with suit or tie, he is labeled a shyster, a wolf in sheep’s clothing!
I have often thought, “Why did I ever want to preach?”
The Answer comes back: “Because God called me to suffer for His Name’s sake.”
I know that if one suffers now, he will be exalted. When the low road leads to struggle, the day will come when they will … mount up on wings as eagles, and they will run and not be weary.
The way up — is down…..
I leave off this writing by going to quote some words found in Hebrews 11:1-2,
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report.”
[One just has to read the Great Roll Call of the Faith to see them]
It goes on to say:
“And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets, who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.
Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: and others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise,” Hebrews 11:32-39.
After all, they looked forward to a reward which was “Not on earth….”
They looked for a city… not made with hands!
