The Perfect “To Do List”
The LORD spoke this word in my hearing: “”Comfort ye, comfort ye My People,” saith your God.” Isaiah 40:1.
Right away, I knew The LORD wants me to say something to encourage others — or He wants me to listen and absorb His Words. Either way — I am writing to see what manifests!
When I do not have appointments, my attention focuses on what direction my day goes. My thoughts are productivity whether it is housework, ministry, or generally blessing others.
Often a spiral comes about when the duration of the day is plan-less. Now I face choices for directions.
The “To Do List” does not always work, because The Holy Spirit leads in different directions.
Do not beat yourself up over not achieving daily goals based on your list — that is not necessarily God’s List!
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Philippians 4:6.
No matter how my daily dilemma plays out — when I walk outside (step away from Caicos) around my house — a sense of calm and direction comes.
My thoughts are about finding a cool quiet spot to meditate and enjoy what God created.
First, my eyes look for beauty –– then things out of order. Of course, I enjoy the beautiful sights –– then my compassion or focal point goes to things out of order.
Aging eyes begin looking at – uncut grass, over grown weeds, and the garden that needs watering.
As I walk, everything attracts my attention –– which move, breathe, float, creep, crawl, or fly. Bird types and colors explode. Insect’s size, shape, and activity, have my thoughts racing.
When I hear rustling through the trees — I am definitely looking to make sure wind is propelling the action and not some hideous beast.
I get very cautious about standing water — brought by an abundance of rain. My mind is on mosquitoes and anything trying to take a swim in my backyard.
During the anxious moments — I go back to looking at things out of order. I wonder why wild grass and weeds spring up in my flowerbeds and garden.
I wonder why creeping-crawling things outside want to get inside my house.
I wonder why birds, worms, and little critters want to eat up my garden. Often, I want to say, “This is people food eat the weeds and wild grass”.
Suddenly, the journey changes — from an outside adventure to another “TO DO LIST”. Somehow, I allowed a peaceful expedition to turn into another peace-seeking event.
Most farmers and gardeners have the same mindset –– whatever I plant, I want it to look just like the picture on the package.
The seed company gives instructions for planting, but no directions for weeds and things that desire to destroy the harvest.
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19.
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” 1 John 3:2.
The enemy always tries to distort God’s beauty. He focuses on curses not blessing.
He does things the same way or whichever way works for him. He promotes pride and arrogance and this is one of his chief ways how to completes his “To DO List”.
“Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” 2 Corinthians 2:11.
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18.
God’s perfect plan for us is to be open to The Holy Spirit’s Guidance and His Leadership. Often we must change the rules of engagement according to the present evil.
Let us keep our eyes on the beauty of God’s Word so that weapons formed against us shall not prosper.
“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of The LORD is.” Ephesians 5:15-17.
Comfort comes in knowing that Jesus is “The Supreme Gardner”.
He knows everything has a time and season. He knows what causes beauty to fade and how faded beauty enhances itself.
The Supreme Gardner knows that sin distracts from man’s natural beauty. Water and sunlight are important for natural growth.
However, The Holy Spirit’s presences in the earth give balance, comfort, and joy to everything (order-less) out of order.
Find solace/ comfort in knowing that we have an Advocate to war and fight on our behalf
We are neither forsaken nor abandoned
We are loved
We have an assurance of eternal life (If accepted)
We have a Divine Healer and Deliverer
Heavenly Father owns everything
We have God’s promises and His expectation
We are on God’s schedule not mans’
When God spoke an instruction to man in Genesis 1, all created things heard His words and were/is/are/ obligated to obey His voice.
“And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.” Genesis 1:22-23.
Weeds do not care where they spring up, water does not care where it falls, bugs do not care where they crawl, and birds do not need our permission to fly.
Many elements in life are just obeying God’s command to be fruitful and multiply.
Whatever situation that might seem like an inconvenience (trials, trouble, test, sickness, disease, etc.) to us is under God’s authority to obey His perfect will.
While I/ we/ us complain about weeds, tall grass, creepy-crawling things, and other issues that exist – some things that crush our day are finding ways to obey The Father’sVvoice.
Time and situations happen – some days may not present a perfect order or way of doing things. Look for comfort in obedience to God’s Holy Word.
Some days our perfect “TO DO LIST”, is just waiting on The LORD!
“Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, The LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: but they that wait upon The LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:28-31
“One thing have I desired of The LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of The LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of The LORD, and to inquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.” Psalm 27:4-5
“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?” Matthew 6:25
