The Perfect Storm
There was a movie many years ago about these fisherman who went out to a place that was known for catching lots of fish, but it was far away from their home and was also known to have frequent terrible storms.
They ended up taking this trip, because they felt pressed to bring in a good catch, and they got caught in the storm, tried to turn the ship around, but the waves were no match for their ship.
No one survived, no one came home, because several storms collided together to create the worst storm ever, The Perfect Storm.
In Mark 6:48-52 we read of a ship on the sea in the bible.
“And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.
But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out: for they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, “Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.”
And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered. For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened,” Mark 6:48-52 (KJV).
In our country today we are experiencing a storm of epic proportions, so many troubles and problems colliding we are not sure which one is worse.
The apostles were in their boat on the sea and it says they were toiling in rowing, for the wind was contrary unto them.
They were trying to row one way and the wind blew against them. Notice vs.47 says that, “when even was come the ship was in the midst of the sea, and He alone was on the land.”
Yes, they were out in the sea having a difficult time and in much weariness trying to row their boat and Jesus stood on the shore and watched.
Ever wonder why you pray and wait upon The LORD and nothing seems to change, just more of the same? LORD where are you?
Then, about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them… when they saw Him walking on the water they couldn’t believe their eyes and thought it to be a spirit so they cried out from fear.
They didn’t recognize Him! How could that be?
Let’s not be so overcome with fear that we miss Jesus walking by.. .It’s time to cry out to Him! And immediately He is there for you as he was for them. To talk to them, to say hey!
Lighten up, be of good cheer, “It is I… Be not afraid!” And you know what, when Jesus showed up and came to them and got into their ship the wind ceased… everything calmed down… all fear left!
They were amazed at what they saw and experienced. It says ‘they were amazed in themselves beyond measure and wondered!’
But you know what, they had just experienced the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves, but they forgot about that, they didn’t even consider that … Why?… because their hearts were hardened.
We can get so caught up in the trouble and the bad news around us, and we are beating the air trying to get where we are going, fighting the whole way, not realizing we are fighting the very one, THE MIGHTY WIND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
Beloved, Jesus is standing on the shore watching His people to see what we are going to do in the midst of all of this… I believe he is just standing there… waiting…
And you know what else, all the while our hearts are getting hard because of the deceitfulness of sin.
Beware! Cry out to Jesus now! Believe! When you hear his voice harden not your hearts… but enter into rest with Him by Faith!
Hebrews 3:16 says,
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
Stay away from the critical man, the fearful man, and the angry man… getting involved with these men will cause unbelief to come and hardness of heart.
Let’s be men and women of faith trusting in The God of Miracles. God is not finished with us yet, and I don’t believe He is finished with this country yet.
I believe God performs miracles in our lives every day, we just have to open our eyes and hearts to see them.
Don’t miss His love for you, His lovingkindness and goodness, His provision, His majesty and greatness. The apostles just the day before had seen the multiplication of the loaves to feed the people, and that very night when they were in trouble and Jesus passed by they almost missed Him… They almost missed him!
It’s time to let Jesus get into your boat and bring peace where there is confusion and unrest.
Call upon Him today! He loves you and is waiting for your call! He wants to do a miracle in your life today!
God Bless You, you are in my prayers
