The Missing Ingredient
We were watching a well known prophet on Elijah Streams when The LORD interrupted me with this thought: “You have all the ingredients to stir Revival — bar one!”
Somewhat taken aback by this, I protested, “How so, LORD?”
He responded with another question, “What is the most important ingredient in almost any recipe? Which tiny ingredient brings out the most memorable results?”
Again, I was a bit nonplussed. Suddenly, it dawned on me. “Hooray!” cheered The LORD, “I do believe he’s got it!”
Memories of Professor Higgins and My Fair Lady zipped through my mind. The LORD chuckled, “Salt!”
Once again, I was somewhat befuddled — I’m not always lightning fast you know! The LORD took me on a scripture tour.
Judges 9:45 where Abimelech destroys the city and salts the ground to prevent any cultivation or growth. Then, 2 Kings 2:19-22 where Elisha heals the bad water with salt and makes it usable once more.
Finally Matthew 5:13 where Jesus refers to us as the salt of the earth.
Then The LORD said this, “Salt can be either death or life. Nothing grows in salty earth, yet salt was used medicinally on wounds that sailors, among others, received after being punished with a flogging. Salt can both kill, and heal.” He paused while I pondered these things.
Then He continued. “When you go out to re-open an old well of revival, what do you do?”
I replied back to Him that I wait for Him to show me where exactly to go, where to bury the stake, what declarations to make, and when to blow the Shofar.
So The LORD continued again, “When do you throw salt on the land to heal it? That is your missing ingredient!
When you are making your Declarations, I want you to throw a handful of salt around to heal the land of any occultic influences that have crept in. Then sound the Shofar.
I will then move by My Spirit to cleanse the land and bless it once again. That is why I said that salt is your missing ingredient!”
There you have it. God is absolutely good.

Chris Bennett came to salvation in 1962 but didn’t begin ministry until 2007 — a late-comer! Now mandated by The LORD to prophesy and open old wells of revival in the U.K., but especially in Wales. He has also operated Healing Rooms, and worked with deliverance teams, all with his wife, Linda. Happily now doing whatever The LORD asks of them! Founder, with wife Linda, of their ministry The Upper Room Encounter.
CONFIRMATION
The Australian Weather Calendar, 2022, included a photo of a ‘salt storm.’ Previously, I had never heard this term, but it seemed to be prominent. Lake Eyre is a salt lake with an area of 9,500 km². When the lake evaporates, the bed of salt remains. When the wind reaches storm intensity, the salt is lifted into the air (Eyre!!!). Prior to submitting this comment, there is another term that I had never heard – Kati Thanda – the indigenous name for Lake Eyre. http://www.bom.gov.au/calendar/
Ezekiel 47:11 was brought to my attention recently. Growing up in the Ozarks,I have always had a fear of swampy/marshy land due to the deathly things they hid (snakes slimy things, tall grasses, mosquitos and awful crimes I saw on the news as a child). Now, I understand marshes are the go between/cleansing agent created by God for saltwater to transition to fresh water. It’s GRACE! A Royal Priesthood! A resting place for migrating animals (or animals on a pilgrimage). Wells have similar drainage layers mostly separated by pea gravel or clay, depending on your region.
When the phrase of “draining the swamps” was coined in the last decade to reveal the dirties there, it has to be balanced with the Life and cleansing that also happens there and needs to be filled again.
What I’m saying is, I’m with you on this Word! Salt to cleanse the water. His Grace is Sufficient for us!
You say blow the shofar and throw salt on the land and I say “blow the trumpet in Zion and throw the Grace!” :)
