The LORD Will Not Impute Sin!
Looking up the word “Impute,” one finds that it means: “To put on one’s record.”
“Blessed is the man to whom The LORD “Will not impute” [put on his record…] sin.”
In other words, blessed is the man who sins but that sin is not put on his record. Instead the sins are forgiven, and covered.
In the verses below it says: God will justify the ungodly and that his faith is counted for righteousness.
How else could a sinner who is guilty of sin and who is in the eyes of God considered ungodly, be justified [or considered sinless and accepted by a Holy God]?
“Justified” means forgiven just as if he had never sinned. In the eyes of God one who is justified is not seen as a sinner, but one who is righteous.
The righteousness is not that mans own righteousness, but is in reality… the righteousness of God.
The LORD God does put on a sinners record that he is righteous, when in reality he is not! But Jesus is his righteousness.
Work done is not considered grace….
Grace is considered… God’s… Unmerited favor, given to the saved sinner who is guilty and undeserving before God.
Study these truths here:
“1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
Notes: What did Abraham do in works of his flesh which satisfied God? The answer is nothing!
2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
Note: If Abraham was accepted by God by his works, then Abraham could brag and say: look what I did! But God will not share his glory with anyone.
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
Note: See that Abraham believed God and that belief was counted for righteousness. Or, God put on his record that he was righteous when Abraham was not, simply because Abraham believed and had faith.
4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
Working = debt… Never grace. Grace and works cannot be mixed. It is either grace or works.
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Note: when one believes on jesus he is counted righteous simply by his belief or faith.
6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
Note: God put on David’s record righteousness………. “Without works”
7 saying, blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
Note: The guilty sinner is forgiven and his sins are covered (in another verse… By the blood of jesus shed for him on the cross.
8 Blessed is the man to whom The LORD will not impute sin. Romans 4:1-8 (KJV).
Note: The blessing is to the sinner who The LORD will not put on his record that he is a sinner.
